Travel Note

Getting Around

The Washington, DC area has an amazing Metro system. It is safe, reliable, frequent, accessible, and inexpensive. The National Mall, monuments, museums, restaurants, airports, and the venue are all accessible via public transit. While driving is not an issue here, parking is. We strongly advise against getting a rental car. Instead, ride Metro as much as possible and Lyft/Uber when necessary.

Flight

DCA

Of the three Washington, DC area airports, DCA is by far the most conveniently located to this weekend's festivities. Daily nonstop flights from Oklahoma can be found on Southwest and American.

Flight

IAD

If flying into Dulles, your best bet is to Lyft/Uber to Alexandria. Metro is available and much cheaper, but will take much longer. If taking Metro, take the Silver Line toward New Carrollton or Largo, then, at Rossyln, transfer to the Blue Line toward Franconia-Springfield. Exit the train at King St.-Old Town station. Ride: 1 hour 13 minutes.

Train

Blue / Yellow Line Metro

From DCA, follow the signs for Metro, exiting the airport through Terminal 2. Turnstiles are Tap-to-Pay enabled.

Train

Amtrak

For our friends coming from New York and all points north, once exiting the train at Washington Union Station, follow signs for Metro and board the Red Line towards Shady Grove. Transfer at Gallery Place-Chinatown and board the Yellow Line toward Huntington. Exit the train at King St.-Old Town station. Ride: 33 minutes.
