Looking back at our childhood days makes me believe that everything was truly meant to be. We would ride our bikes down the street and he wanted to race me around the block and who ever was first, won. I couldn't go around the block because I wasn't old enough so he said he automatically won because he could. I think it was that moment that instigated what would be our future. We were in band together and he played the bass and I played snare. All the years in middle school and half of high school and we hadn't noticed each other. When we started dating in high school, I was the first one to do everything; I held his hand, initiated our first kiss even though I denied him 3 times he asked me out. It seems like just yesterday we took our first selfie at a band competition, like I took his hand for the first time walking to the practice field one afternoon for band practice. We both wish for everyone to find their own version of true love and happiness, just like we found ours.
Most people talk about love at first sight, but I can't say thats how it was for Summer and I. The First time we met we were about 9 - 11 years of age. She challenged me to a bike race, but because she couldn't go around the block I won. For a while, that was the last I saw of her. As fate would have it the next time I saw Summer was when the school system changed where grade levels were and introduced the 6th grade to the middle school campus. Like most upper class students I ignored the 6th graders for invading and more so the new band members like Summer who also happened to be a first year drummer. At this point in my life she wasn't a blimp on my radar, much less some one I could fall in love with. Flash forward to High School, I was a sophomore and Summer was a freshman, still didn't see her as anything more than a fellow drummer/classmate until one day, it hit me. It was graduation for the class of 07 and we were on the field with the band just sitting. I'm not sure of why but I just happened to look at Summer from across the drum section, the field lights shining bright on her, making her resinate this beautiful glow. It was like seeing her for the first time. From that moment I knew she was the one. It took 3 or more tries to get her to date me but once she said yes, I stole her heart.
It was the day of my Master's Graduation, I was taking pictures with all of my family and friends and took some pictures with Peter and wanted to leave because of the heat. He wanted me to take more photos with him so he gave the camera to our friend and I turned to fix my hair and as I turned back around he was on his knee and took my hand. He told me how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of my life with me and I of course started crying the moment he took my hand. I said YES!! of course and I can't wait to spend forever with my best friend!
