4 years’ worth of memories later, we've survived long distance FaceTimes & flights, created a home together in Philly, and added 2 perfect pups to our family. And now we're getting married! Thank you so much for all your love and support so far! We are so excited to share this special day with our favorite people <3 Our love story began in Chicago at a TFA Conference, back in 2017. Derrick noticed Kimber from across the room and made a beeline to make sure he sat next to her for a session; Kimber didn't notice Derrick. During the session, the facilitator asked the audience to turn and talk to the person next to them. Kimber turned to her right, saw Derrick, and thought “hmm, okay.” Some flirting was exchanged back and forth the rest of the session and even after they flew back to their respective states of Pennsylvania and North Carolina, they still thought about each other. Then finally a few months later, they re-connected in Philly that summer after Derrick invited Kimber to go running. Kimber barely finished a mile before tapping out but that 2 mile walk back to the Temple dorms led to a conversation about art, poetry, and dreams. The rest of the summer they were inseparable until it was time for Kimber to fly back home. Derrick dropped Kimber off at the airport thinking he would never see her again. He made it 2 weeks before he booked his first flight to Charlotte and said, "I love you." On the second anniversary of the day he first dropped her off at the airport, Derrick popped the question at their first date spot, Pietro's, over pizza and white wine. And Kimber said yes (duh).
