In the charming town of York, PA, lived a young man named Luke. During a stint living in his parents’ basement due to the 2020 shutdown—and largely due to his mother’s “gentle nudge” to get out of her house—Luke decided to escape to the family home in Bethany Beach, DE, for a MDW getaway with his friends. True to form, the weather that weekend was far from perfect, but Luke’s friends Andrew & Chelsea had a plan. They suggested meeting up with an another group of friends in nearby Dewey Beach. For those unfamiliar with the area, Dewey Beach boasts the renowned beach bar, The Starboard, known for a mystical feeling of happiness inevitably bestowed to its patrons upon entry. Whilst arriving at the Starboard, Luke felt an immediate primal sense to party wash over him. He knew he was in for a night filled with potential, but never did he expect what was to happen next. He made his way to the bar, where his favorite bartender, served him a bucket of High Noons amongst the crowded bar. As he settled in, his gaze fell upon a striking young woman he had just met briefly only moments earlier. Her name was Justine, and she was from New Rochelle, NY. She was radiant, with sun-kissed skin and curly hair, clad in a white crop top and jeans. Luke had always been a sucker for that combination. Seizing the moment, he approached her with a line that would become legendary: “You want one of these High Noons, hun?” What started as a simple offer quickly turned into a series of shared drinks and dancing. When Justine excused herself to the restroom, Luke gallantly offered to hold her jacket. Stunned by his chivalry, she obliged, but upon returning, panic set in—her phone and lifeline to her friends Aaron & Kasey, who had thoroughly vetted Luke before departing the bar just an hour earlier, was missing. However, Luke stood firm, holding her jacket as she frantically searched and eventually did find her phone. Thankfully, the night didn’t turn into a disaster, and their connection only deepened. The next day, Luke and Justine couldn’t stop raving about the other to their friends. So Luke, determined to see her again, insisted they return to Dewey Beach for the Jam Session at Bottle & Cork. After a few refreshing mixed lemonades, the two found themselves back on the dance floor, lost in each other’s presence as if the world around them had faded away. Although the weekend eventually came to a close, their conversations continued to flow via text and FaceTimes, and they quickly became enamored with one another. Luke's eventual move back to New York solidified their bond, despite a brief comedic 31-day pause in their journey together. They embraced countless evenings filled with vodka chicken parmesan dinners, bottles of chilled Rosemary’s Lambrusco, and cozy, rainy days cuddled up on the couch with their beloved dog, Kane. Luke’s family—Dennis, Rosemary, Kathleen, Nick, Elisabeth, and Alex—found themselves captivated by Justine. Everything they once found overwhelming about Luke’s personality was met with her patience and love for the exact things that bothered them. They immediately knew this was different. Justine’s family—Dan, Luann, and John Luke—saw their mild-mannered daughter blossom alongside the man who brought out her adventurous side, always reminding her of her confidence, intelligence, and beauty. Now, as the couple prepares for an incredible night at the New York Athletic Club in “The City that Never Sleeps,” they reflect on the invaluable lessons they’ve learned from one another over the years. Justine has rekindled Luke’s love for a city he once claimed to despise, teaching him that pasta doesn’t count as a carb, and that not everything needs to be 100% or nothing. Meanwhile, Luke has gifted Justine the universal phrase that continues to unite them: “Go Birds!” Their story is far from over; perhaps the above can be considered as “Part 1” in this movie, and both are more than content to embrace the sequels, together.
