How We Met

A Tinder Love Story...

Sometimes love takes fate to intervene... The Bride and Groom are no strangers to the modern world of dating. Both Jimmy and Melissa used dating apps from time to time while they were living in Tallahassee, FL. They had met some people, and had gone out with a few interesting characters, but ultimately were disappointed with the results. Although using Tinder had become the norm, ironically, this particular love story starts right when they both decided they were done with dating (and all dating apps) altogether. The Best Man, Jimmy's brother Jon, had just moved back in with him and their cousin Matt (another Groomsmen) after his own heartbreak. The guys did what they could for Jon, including introducing him to the app Tinder. Believe it or not, Jimmy had uninstalled the app from his phone, and only re-downloaded it in January of 2016 to show his brother how to use it. The person he swiped right on while teaching his brother? You guessed it... Melissa had used the app to mixed results herself, and by January of 2016 had used it so infrequently that it was a miracle she even opened it that day. After a few swipes, she matched with Jimmy, and then went about her day. Jimmy, on the other hand, was about to re-delete the app for the second time when he was notified of Melissa's match. Clearly his plans had now changed. After carefully crafting the perfect text, he sent her a message. They flirted for a few weeks until Melissa agreed to meet Jimmy for sushi at Masa on February 4th. Their chemistry was undeniable. The rest, as they say, is history.

The Proposal

New York, New York

It was March 21st, 2019, on an overcast night in NYC. The first night of a 3 day trip. The night was cool, the city was alive, and the setting couldn't be more perfect for the biggest moment of Jimmy and Melissa's lives. However, to really appreciate and understand this moment, you need to know a little about the Bride and Groom... ....They LOVE to travel together! One location in particular that holds a special place in their hearts is New York City; It was the where they took their first trip together as a couple back in 2017. When Jimmy was considering his proposal, and coming up with the perfect "plan", he knew it had to be done in Manhattan. There was nowhere else. Once Jimmy knew the destination, he needed a ring. So WAY back in August 2018 Jimmy began reaching out to several members of his family and Melissa's family to let them know of his intentions. He began ring shopping, and ended up designing something he felt Melissa would love. The only problem? Melissa's sister, and Matron of Honor, was planning her wedding. Wanting to not "steal Katie and Marco's thunder" (shout out to any Friends fans out there) Jimmy did the hardest thing he's ever had to do... ....He WAITED until March 2019 after their wedding. Not two weeks later, he and Melissa were in NYC. Planned for months. All he had to do was wait for the perfect moment. Jimmy's nerves caused some interesting occurrences early on: He stumbled over his words, experienced a blackout during a photo-shoot (ask us about this), and even pulled his Umbrella away from Melissa in the rain! In his defense, he was afraid she'd feel the ring in his pocket! But they had a truly romantic day, an amazing dinner, and ended up heading to The Skylark for drinks. In the underground tunnel leading up to the elevator that would take them to the rooftop bar, Jimmy felt like he found his perfect moment. He got down on one knee and asked the most important question of his life... "Will you marry me?" She said yes.
