Being introverts in the 21st century, both Ashley and Joshua turned to internet dating. They matched, and spoke briefly before Joshua (stupidly) decided to focus on work. Six months passed and while both were losing patience with internet dating, each couldn't get the other out of their mind. At the very start of 2017, Ashley and Joshua both gave it one more shot. As luck would have it, they found each other again and picked up right where they left off. This time, they immediately set a date to meet in person. It took only a moment of being near one another that both knew this was something special.

Under the guise of celebrating his birthday, Joshua wanted to take a trip out of state. Ashley really wanted to go to New Orleans, and so it was decided- they’d spend a few days in the Big Easy. After landing the morning of October 27, they found themselves at Cafe du Monde for a quick snack, and moments later at the courtyard of Pat O’Brien’s, the home of the Hurricane. One and a half Hurricanes later, as the Saints game is blaring on the TV just in front of their table, Josh pulls a ring out of his pocket. Ashley turns around and asks Josh, “Is this real??” And it was! Josh explained that he wanted to spend as much of the trip as he could engaged. And so they did.
