Our Story

They say that 2% of people marry their high school sweethearts, and fortunately, we are part of that 2%! Our story began in kindergarten. It was love at first sight...Okay, so I am exaggerating. Caleb and I grew up going to school together. Although we have known each other since we were five, our love story didn't begin until much later. Looking back, it was clear that God had a plan for our lives, weaving our paths together even from such a young age. I remember it all truly began freshman year of high school. One day, Caleb decided to sit beside me in math class. At first, I thought it was just so I would help him with his homework, but it seems he might have had some ulterior motives. As we began to talk more, it became apparent that there was more than just friendship there. However, as school ended and summer began, we didn't see each other much and we became a classic "right person, wrong time" story. By junior year, the timing was finally right. Ironically, Caleb decided to sit beside me in math class again. He also chose to sit beside me in Chemistry class as well. Caleb would text and call me frequently, claiming that he needed help with homework. And of course, again, I assumed he really did just wanted help with homework. And yes, I know what you are all thinking...it should have been very obvious, but it seems I was quite oblivious at the time. The truth became apparent on Valentine's Day of 2020 when Caleb walked into our Spanish class holding a dozen roses and a sign asking me to go to prom with him and be his Valentine. I of course said yes, and we ended up going on our first date later that evening. We officially started dating on February 27, 2020. However, just a week later our school shut down for Covid. At the time, we all thought it would be for a week or two. However, a few weeks turned into the rest of our junior year. Caleb and I were never able to go to prom together, but we were able to make many memories together during quarantine. We were able to return to school for our senior year. However, it was anything but a normal school year. Despite the new rules and lack of normality, Caleb and I were able to strengthen our relationship even more. We both graduated from Wilmington Christian Academy in May of 2021. It was odd saying goodbye to the school where our story began and one that held so many memories for us both. After graduating, we both decided we wanted to stay in Wilmington for college and remain close to each other. I decided to attend UNC Wilmington to study Marketing. Caleb decided to attend Cape Fear Community College for a Construction Management degree. He graduated with his associates in May of 2023. He is now pursuing his bachelor's in Industrial Engineering from East Carolina University through an online program. Because we live in Wilmington, many of Caleb and I's memories and adventures together involve the beach. On one of our frequent visits to the beach, Caleb asked me yet another question. However, this time it was about something much more serious than prom. On August 17, 2023, Caleb asked me to marry him, and as we all know, I said YES! Things have been pretty hectic ever since then. I was able to graduate with my bachelor's degree in May of 2024, and Caleb is set to graduate his program in May of 2025. We have also been blessed to have found a house to rent in the Castle Hayne area, right outside of Wilmington, NC. With full-time jobs and wedding planning underway, we have been very busy the past few months. As we look to the future, I realize that our story is just beginning. I am so thankful for the Lord's hand in Caleb and I's journey together and we both cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for our future.
