Mr. Maldonado's Pre-Cal class filled quickly with our senior class peers. Most faces were familiar, but this was the first time that Edinson and Melissa would officially meet. Despite going to the same school since grade 7, they never shared a class schedule. They shared friends, but somehow never met until that first day of senior year in high school.
After our engagement, we had been working on the details of a wedding planned for November 1, 2013. However, our eagerness to be together led to a slight change of plans. Edinson was being assigned to his first military duty station on May 12th, and Melissa was graduating from Nursing school on that same day. The thought of more time apart was not appealing, so we made the impromptu decision to get married at the court house when Edinson came to Houston the week before graduation. Our parents and family were opposed to a court house wedding, so they stepped in. With only 2 weeks notice, a small intimate wedding was put together by our family. Although we still had the November wedding for all our family and friends, we continue to celebrate our original wedding date of May 9, 2013.
After years of infertility and a hysterectomy, we have decided to move forward with Domestic Infant Adoption. We have started the process for adoption by talking to an adoption advocate and coach. We are currently getting our finances in order before we move forward with the next step, which is a home study.
June 2013: Moved into our first home together. Our apartment on the Camp Pendleton base led us to our Centeno Ct family who we love so much. You know who you are :) 2015: We made the difficult decision to live apart so that Melissa could have a stronger start to her career. We spent most of this year traveling back and forth between Houston and San Diego. June 2015: Vacation to Las Vegas for the EDC. That is still to this day, one of our favorite trips together. Check out our gallery of photos for a picture of our fun outfits. 2016: Our love for the Subaru community grew. It started with our car club in California, which led to Edinson starting Space City Subies when we moved back to Houston. The club is still going strong with 2300 members. February 28, 2016: Nala's Gotcha day. February 6, 2017: Ivy's Gotcha Day. December 2017: We purchased our first home in East Downtown Houston. Woohoo! 2018: A hard year medically; for both of us. We were struggling with infertility, but had not yet told anyone. Melissa was having significant changes in her ability to work and carry out daily activities due to increasing physical pain. These changes in our health, both mental and physical, continue to be something we deal with. September 2021: We sadly had to say goodbye to our Daisy. November 4, 2021: We traveled to the world renowned Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta, GA. Melissa was treated by the best surgeon for this 3rd surgery. March-April 2022: We sold our first home and bought our second home in Conroe, Texas. We now have more space to enjoy the outdoors. September 29, 2022: Bailey's Gotcha day! Back to 3 fur babies.
