Pastry Chef Maya’s love for baking began in a small wooden house in rural Vermont. After graduating from the New England Culinary Institute, she honed her craft as a pastry chef in high-end hotels and restaurants throughout New England. In 2022, Chef Maya competed on Amazon Prime’s Dr. Seuss Baking Challenge, where her innovative approach to pastry was on full display. Today, Maya brings her artistry back to her native Vermont through Renaissance Pastry. Her work is a celebration of beauty, flavor, and craftsmanship. Our owner and pastry chef, Sarah Auger, graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in 2009. Over the last ten years she has worked as a pastry chef for farm to table restaurants, high end catering companies and top bakeries in Vermont, San Francisco and New York City. As she was building her repertoire working with various forms of pastry, Sarah was all the while continuing to build her skills creating and designing wedding and special occasion cakes. After traveling for portions of her career, Sarah has landed back in the Mad River Valley where she grew up, finding inspiration in the beautiful surroundings here.

I believe that no two weddings are alike. We may find a design that is perfect, but I bring the truth to the dessert table. I can honestly say that I will not know what your cake will look like until I am finished setting it up. Why? Because I LOVE taking my artistic freedom to the next level. If we are working with fresh flowers, I will pull from the inspirational work that the florist has created not only to pull the cake design together but to make a statement piece. A Centerpiece!
