Please wear hiking boots, trail running shoes, or sneakers you are okay with getting a little dirty. Dress to sweat!

Come join Zach on a run or Karyn on a hike to get the jitters out before the Wedding. Zach will lead a group who wants to run a short-ish (minimum 7 miles of pretty hilly terrain) loop. Travel

Hotel

Marriott Syracuse Downtown

100 East Onondaga Street, Syracuse, NY 13202

We have a hotel block set aside for out of town guests. The rate per night is $189. Please use the link provided to book. https://book.passkey.com/e/50977285 The hotel has a parking garage and valet service. However, parking on the streets in Syracuse is free from 6pm on Friday through the weekend. A school bus will transport guests from the Hotel Syracuse (Marriott Downtown) to the venue (The Orchards) and back. If you are local or staying at a different hotel/AirBNB/family's house, we strongly encourage using the shuttle service from the Marriott Downtown. Ubers will be easier to snag from downtown Syracuse than from the venue location. Please do not drink and drive.

Shuttle

Shuttle to and from the venue

May 31, 2024 3:30 pm - 10:15 pm

A big yellow school bus will pick up guests from the Hotel Syracuse (Marriott) in downtown Syracuse at 3:30 PM to arrive at the venue around 4:00 PM. Please be ready to board the bus by 3:25 PM. The bus will leave The Orchards at 10:00 PM to return guests to the Hotel Syracuse.

Flight

Syracuse Hancock International Airport

The airport in Syracuse is a short drive from downtown, although sometimes it is difficult to get direct or reasonably priced flights to or from this airport. The Rochester International Airport is about 1.5 hours to the west and Albany International Airport is about 2.25 hours to the east. We apologize for how challenging Syracuse can be to get to.

Things To Do

Green Lakes State Park

Green Lakes State Park

7900 Green Lakes Road, Fayetteville, NY 13066

The two lakes at Green Lakes State Park were formed by receding glaciers pouring a waterfall of water to scour out a deep hole. These lakes are meromictic, glacial lakes meaning they are permanently stratified which makes the deeper zone anoxic. Bright pink sulfur reducing bacteria is found about 20 meters deep, which Karyn had the opportunity to sample during her graduate studies. Apart from the beauty of the lakes, there are miles of trails which range from old growth forest to meadowlands (colloquially known as the Serengeti) that Karyn and Zach regularly run.

Museum of Science & Technology

500 South Franklin Street, Syracuse, NY 13202

Particularly great for kids - check out the Museum of Science and Technology in Syracuse's downtown.

Cazenovia Lake

Cazenovia Lake

Cazenovia, New York, NY 13035

Cazenovia Lake has a special place in our hearts and a small, lesser known park on the northeast side of the lake is where Zach proposed! Bowie, of course, was noisily splashing in the water and enjoying his best life while Zach was on one knee. See location here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/FkJXjnHJxzotV2dQ9 There are several access points to swim or just take in the view and the town of Cazenovia has wonderful restaurants and cute boutiques. One of our favorites for dinner is the Brewster Inn. And, as per usual, there are trails nearby for running/walking. We frequent the Cazenovia Preservation Trails: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jtxJSKwdxorotx5e7 If you're already out that way, it's just a short drive to Chittenango Falls State Park which boasts an easily accessible 167 foot tall waterfall.

CNY Regional Market

2100 Park Street, Syracuse, NY 13208

Although not every vendor is a locally sourced, homegrown novelty and you can buy bananas and mangoes year round, the CNY Regional Market is large and flourishing. We frequent the baked goods and coffee :)

Rosamond Gifford Zoo

1 Conservation Place, Syracuse, NY 13204

Brought the kids? Another great place to check out is the local zoo.

FAQs

More information to come as we continue planning. If you have immediate questions, please reach out to Zach at 815-641-6016. or Karyn at 585-721-2402.
Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

The most important thing to us is that you're comfortable in whatever weather May has to offer. Please check the weather in advance. We expect it to be hot with cool temperatures overnight, but who knows... Spring cocktail attire requested. Stilettos are not recommended due to the grassy ceremony and cocktail area.

Question

Are you having a Bridal Shower?

Answer

No. All activities associated with our wedding will be on 5/30 and 5/31.
