The Proposal

10.03.2023

Zac surprised Hilary with an amazing beach proposal on their favorite beach. This was the same location he threw a surprise birthday party for her the year prior. There were rose petals with a sunflower covering the ring that was buried in the sand. He arranged friends and family to be present for the occasion. Some of them even took it upon themselves to hide under the boardwalk to take photos of their special moment.

FAQs

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Sooner the better! But please no later than August 15th, 2024

Question

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

Keep in mind... we live in the middle of nowhere! All options for flying will require a rental car. ECP - Panama City airport (1.5 hours) TLH - Tallahassee international (2 hours) VPS - Destin airport (2.5 hours)

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

We do NOT have a gift registry, however we are accepting any monetary contributions towards our future together! Our Venmo QR code is provided in the registry section if you prefer to use that :)

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

You can arrive anytime between 4-4:30 PM EST and the ceremony will start soon after that - If you are traveling, reminder that we are on EST time! We recommend locking your phone on EST while visiting because your phone will jump back and forth between CST and EST since we are on the line. BUT - reminder that all flights out of Destin or Panama are on CST - confusing, I know!

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Yes! We have rooms reserved at the Port Inn for guests coming in from out of town. We highly recommend booking these as soon as you can since there is a festival going on that same weekend and we want everyone to be accommodated while traveling. **Deadline to reserve a room at the Port Inn is July 10th**

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

There is parking available in front of the venue but we do suggest carpooling and having a designated driver! Keep in mind that UBERS and LYFTS do NOT exist here lol

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Not really but more beach casual - just dress for the weather because we plan to have both the ceremony and reception outdoors. Be prepared since Florida October weather is unpredictable and it WILL get chilly after the sun goes down! (EDIT: it will be chilly for locals. If you are coming from out of town, it will be warm or perfect)

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Of course :) you will be prompted when you RSVP to inform us of the names of all children attending.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Please let us know ahead of time if you have any special food allergies. We will have a BBQ spread for people to create their own dish with brisket, chicken, sausage, and side dishes. Let us know in advance if that is an issue for you.

Things To Do

Indian Pass Raw Bar

8391 County Road 30A, Port St. Joe, FL 32456

Most of our recommendations are within walking distance, however, Indian Pass Raw Bar will require a car ride! They are about a 8-10 minutes drive away from the hotel block and worth every penny. This is my #1 place for crab and people here love their oysters too!

Uptown Raw Bar & Grill

411 Reid Avenue, Port St. Joe, FL 32456

If you do not feel like driving to Indian Pass Raw Bar, this is the next best option! They are a 1 minute walk from the Port Inn for those staying in the room block. Also, this is located in our downtown area on Reid Avenue. Super cute little downtown to walk through (and yes it takes all of 8 minutes to walk through all of downtown).

Sweet Bunz

108 First Street, Port St. Joe, FL 32456

The donuts here sell out FAST so you have to go early in the morning to see their full selection. Definitely worth a visit Saturday or Sunday morning, the donuts are amazing. They are only a 7 minute walk down the street from the hotel!

The BrickWall Sports Bar & Grille

414 Reid Avenue, Port St. Joe, FL 32456

I only recommend this if you are 1. coming earlier than Thursday because they have great wings on Wednesdays! OR 2. watching football/sports - it is the only place that has the Sunday Ticket in the area for Thursday night football.

Sugar Shack PSJ

319 Reid Avenue, Port St. Joe, FL 32456

If you are in the mood for some ice-cream or a milkshake this is the place to go! They are a quick 3 minute walk from the hotel down the street.

The Joe In Port Saint Joe Coffee Shop

220 Reid Avenue, Port St. Joe, FL 32456

Need caffeine? I totally understand... The Joe is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. They have bagels and milkshakes too!

Cape San Blas Lighthouse

200 Miss Zola's Drive, Port St. Joe, FL 32456

This is the "landmark" in Port St Joe! Cute little lighthouse with some history behind it. Definitely worth the walk over to see the views on the beach!

Pepper's Mexican Grill & Cantina

309 Reid Avenue, Port St. Joe, FL 32456

In the mood for Mexican food? Well we have a brand new Taco Bell that is all the rage here in PSJ. However, we recommend Peppers if you want to sit down for Mexican dining. They are a 5 minute walk from the hotel block!

The White Marlin and Oysterette

602 Monument Avenue, Port St. Joe, FL 32456

This is our 1 and only fine dining restaurant in the area. It is a little more pricey, but the views are awesome! I recommend the wagyu meatball appetizer and their coffee cake for dessert.

T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park

8899 Cape San Blas Road, Port St. Joe, FL 32456

The state park is a great visit and the ride there down the cape is amazing. No pets allowed there as a heads up and there is a $6 fee per vehicle to get in.
