It all started in college at Cal State Long Beach where Russel and Amanda (Yvonne's Matron of Honor) had a lot of their classes together. Amanda showed him a picture of all her friends, and his eyes were instantly drawn to Yvonne. Russel tried to get Amanda to "hook it up" with Yvonne, but nothing ever came of it. After many failed attempts, he decided that ship had sailed... It wasn't until after college that Russel and Yvonne finally connected. Amanda did a birthday post for Yvonne on Instagram, and Russel thought, "Oh this is the girl!". He followed her and immediately slid into her DMs with a simple birthday greeting. From there, Russel and Yvonne started talking via Instagram with long messages (some even would consider them mini essays) throughout the day and night. A group meet up was arranged at Dave and Buster's with Amanda and Faizi, and according to Amanda, that hangout was the shyest she had ever seen Yvonne lol. Since the hang out went well, they thought it would be best to do a classic first date, Sushi and Movies. After getting to know each other a little more at dinner, Russel may or may not have said something stupid and made Yvonne laugh so hard that she started crying! It was safe to say that the dinner went well. Before the night ended and he was dropping her off at home, they started talking about their favorite types of music and songs. Yvonne showed him the song ILYSB by LANY and throughout the song the lyrics repeated "I love you so bad". He thought that she was subliminally telling him that she already loved him (this still needs to be fact checked lol). To this day, they continue to meet up every Thursday evening for their weekly date night and he still jokes that she always loved him since their first date.
