2017 – First met in Shanghai. The new summer intern left quite an impression. 2018 – Visited to meet the newly adopted puppy, Duoduo. A typhoon rolled in, and we ended up stuck together overnight. 2019 – Started calling each other all the time. A trip to Toronto turned into our first date. 2020 – The U.S.–Canada border closed during the pandemic… and we got “stuck” together in Halifax. 2021 – Walked across the Canada–U.S. border with our dog Yuri and all our luggage to return to the States. Truly a journey! 2022 – Got engaged at the summit of Mauna Loa, where the sun dipped below the clouds and stars lit up the sky. End of 2022 – Made it official in Shanghai, closing the loop on where it all began.

Yes! Please wear something in yellow, marigold, peach, blush, light green, champagne, or orange , especially for the top half. Semi-formal is perfect! Please avoid wearing large areas of white to keep the overall look colorful and warm. For gentlemen, a collared shirt or something slightly dressy would be appreciated. For ladies, a dress or outfit with a polished touch would be lovely.
Thornewood Castle is in Lakewood, Washington. Just type “Thornewood Castle” into Google Maps and it’ll come right up! It’s about 32 miles south of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and around 43 miles south of downtown Seattle. Depending on traffic, especially during busy times, the drive from downtown Seattle can take up to 1.5 hours.
We recommend staying near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. It’s a convenient spot between Thornewood Castle and downtown Seattle, making it easy for both the wedding and sightseeing. Plus, if you’re planning to visit Mount Rainier, it’s also south of the airport too, so staying nearby makes day trips easier!
