Our story began in January 2021. Steven was in the middle of nowhere Arkansas completing his fellowship training and his dating prospects were nonexistent. His best friend, Jon, took it upon himself to post a dating ad for him on the Facebook group Subtle Asian Dating, or S.A.D. Many of you have probably seen this ad where Jon advertises his tall, buff Korean doctor BFF who is apparently 6'2". Now Jon claims he received a ton of messages from girls expressing their interest, but somehow in the middle of all those messages, he responded to Connie's best friend, Jayme, suggesting they try and set up their friends. Connie got an Instagram DM from @tmntdonjuan who had the most adorable profile photo of him and his dog in matching suits. They chatted for a few days but at that time they were both living far from home, Connie was in San Jose while Steven was in the middle of nowhere Arkansas, and it didn't seem like it was going to work out. They coincidentally both moved back home and found each other again in 2023, like so many couples do on Hinge. Steven had sent Connie a rose and she couldn't forget the profile photo of a tan Korean guy with buff arms holding a koala. They matched on Hinge and went on their first date shortly after. Since then, they've traveled to 9 countries together, attended many music events, visited 6 Disney parks (to Steven's dissatisfaction, even though we all know he loves them), helped raise 2 adorable dogs, and recently moved in together.
