Cassandra and Josh met through each of their best friends from middle school. Cassandra and Josh are 4 years apart, but never shared any classes together. However, they did grow up on the same exact street at opposite ends of the neighborhood. Miraculously, they're paths never crossed until high school, when Cassandra tagged along with Sabrina to her friend Anthony's . Josh and Anthony were also best friends. Eventually, Cassandra and Josh would meet. The years of high school, growing up, and discovering their own individuality separated Josh and Cassandra's communication until after each were out of school. With the assistance of growing social media and Facebook, they reestablished connection and quickly dove into exploring a more in depth relationship. It didn't take long for Josh to realize Cassandra was the one, and he promptly asked her to be his girlfriend after a date at a local pool hall. She replied with question, making sure he was definitive of his answer. Cassandra was 19 and Josh was 22 years old, yet she also knew, if he wanted to be her boyfriend, it was a commitment she wouldn't give up on. They both allowed each other to ponder the question until another date night out. Josh asked again. It was just after Christmas, 2008. He told her he can't stand the thought of her dating another guy, and he was sure he wanted to be together. She accepted and told him she "would never break up" with him. Together they shared their 1st apartment. They also worked at the same local pizza parlor together, pushed through school and any other major adult milestone that got in their way. So, here they are over 14 years and their promise has held true. Their relationship may not have taken the traditional route, but they created the path that no one else has the map too. About the proposal: seizing the opportunity while on vacation in Hawaii, Josh took advantage of the most amazing beach. It was the last evening in Waikiki. Cassandra and Josh finished dinner and took a walk along the water to soak in the last moments of the island. Cassandra could feel nerves in the air. There was a running joke before the trip about proposing in Hawaii since it had been, at the time, over 10 years together. Cassandra could see Josh's grinning smile and blurted out "I feel like you're going to purpose or something." Josh chuckled, grinned more and stated he was just "soaking in the moment and already wanting to bring Genevieve back." After pictures, waves, and overall serenity was reached, Cassandra asked if Josh was ready to go back to the hotel. He said "yes, but," got down on one knee and said, "not before I ask you a question. Will you marry me?" Cassandra covered her face, sobbing as Josh presented her with 2 rings in a little jewelry box from his parents to choose from. She bawled and muttered "yes" while hugging Josh tightly in disbelief. It was a perfect way to end a perfect vacation. The last 2 years they have spent time enjoying the extended engagement and wedding planning. They are very happy to celebrate the joining of their family and continuing their ride together.
