The big day is almost upon us! Please see your invitations and/or the FAQ section on this site for parking tips and other useful information. See you soon!
We were both in the MVP tournament for our billiards league in October 2022. Tynan brought his dad, Noel, along to cheer him on because it was shortly after his birthday. Noel noticed us looking at each other, and encouraged the introduction - where we quickly realized that Kelli and Noel share the same birthday. Five months later, both of our teams were playing pool at the same bar on a normal league night, and we recognized each other. Tynan remembered Kelli's name and that she was pursuing her doctorate degree, and we began communicating regularly. Hence, two people who were happy doing their own thing for the rest of their lives realized they were soulmates.
Tynan's mom was a theater major and his dad was a movie buff, introducing him to the performing arts at an early age. Kelli was mildly obsessed with Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera since watching the film adaptation in 2004 - to the point that she flew to NYC, alone, to see it on Broadway before its last production at The Majestic. Knowing the songs and having her mind blown by seeing it live, Kelli dreamt of dressing as Christine Daae for Halloween, and Tynan helped this dream come true by pulling off a fantastic Phantom costume complete with a handmade, custom cape. For Kelli's birthday in 2024, Tynan planned a "surprise," telling her only that she needed to bring her costume. He took her up to Virginia City and informed her they were doing a photoshoot in the cemetery (thanks Liz Huntington!), but halfway through, he brought out a rose with a ring on it and got down on one knee. Romantic and epic and thoughtful and perfect! "Love me, that's all I ask of you..."
3:45 pm - 10:00 pm
Semi-formal to formal: dust off your tux, favorite cocktail dress, spiffy suit, or evening/opera gown... let's have a ball in this historical opera house!
We will have some snacks and drinks to enjoy while waiting for the ceremony to start. Peek at the table assignment board so you know where you'll be seated for dinner. Join us in celebrating the existence of true love through our official union and hand-fasting ritual, which will start at 4:00pm. Immediately following the ceremony, there will be an intermission while the wedding party will be taking photos. During this time, we ask guests to please enjoy a cocktail and help move their chairs to the dining tables. Finally, let's eat, drink, and boogie! Upon re-entry of the wedding party, we will proceed with the dinner buffet, followed by cake and toasts. Then it's time to dance!!! *Beware that Geiger Grade is steep, curvy, and deer-populated, so party responsibly!
The vibe is Regency to Victorian era, semi-formal to formal or opera attire. Still fit in that snazzy suit in your closet? Let's see it! Got some Victorian-period costumes? You'll fit right in! We want to be inclusive so we will not be enforcing a strict dress code, but whether it's a tux, bespoke pantsuit, or ballgown... there aren't many reasons to get fancy these days, so have fun with it and express yourself! Just watch out for stragglers of the color run that has been coincidentally scheduled for earlier that day on C Street.
Aim for being at the venue at 3:00 or 3:15 PM. The ceremony will start at 4:00 PM, regardless of whether all our guests have arrived yet.
Yes. While it would be wonderful to celebrate our love with the world, this is an evening event in a historical venue with strict capacity rules, so we respectfully request no children under the age of 18. We apologize if this causes any inconvenience and sincerely hope you can still join us. If you are traveling from out of town with the little ones, we could help by offering suggestions for child care options!
Although the main theatre is on the second floor, there is an elevator for guests to use.
There are several paid parking lots throughout Virginia City, and the courthouse parking lot on B St. is free on Saturdays - see the map insert with your invitation (drawn by the groom!). We will be offering complimentary "comstock carriage" rides from the Silver Terrace Cemetery for those with mobility restrictions... contact Cal Dillon at 775-297-5510 if you think you will need this. Go Go Gadget Golf Cart also offers shuttle rides all around Virginia City and Gold Hill - call or text 775-484-0686. Carpooling is a good idea and please plan on getting to VC early!
You betcha! Although the bride and groom are sober, there will be a cash-only bar (plus NA options), and we greatly encourage merriment of all sorts. Geiger Grade is a winding, dark road so please be safe, plan ahead, and book ASAP if you want to stay the night in VC.
Your timely RSVP is required for us to know how many places to set and people to feed. Additionally, Piper's has a strictly limited capacity and a specific number of seats available, to which we must adhere. Don't be "that guy;" RSVP as soon as you can and if you miss the date or are otherwise unclear on who can attend, please contact one of us. There might be a last-minute opening, but no promises.
Yes! We will have a catered buffet, plus dessert (obviously). Your prompt RSVP ensures we'll have enough food for everyone, and please let us know of any dietary restrictions.
