Mehndi

6:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Crestmont Hall
12400 Crestmont Boulevard Southwest, Calgary, AB T3B 5W5, Canada

Bold, bright colors such as yellow, orange, pink and green in traditional clothing is encouraged but not required (don't worry we won't use this to shame you for cultural appropriation). Men are encouraged to wear kurta shalwar or dress shirt with dress pants. Additionally, any colored dupatta/shawl would look dope, let us know if you need help!

What to Expect? A Mehndi is a kick-off to the wedding celebration. You can expect a brief ceremony, dance performances, good food, and some amazing music to dance the night away. Please don't forget as part of our culture it is required that our guests present the bride and groom, as well as their God the gift of magic, and that magic is known as dance. You've seen Bollywood movies, and now you are going to a part of one. This is very important to appease the Gods, old and new. If you are unable to dance, other forms of entertainment are also acceptable including but not limited to raps, a jiggy, the Canadian national anthem... except slam poetry. They hate slam poetry.

The Homies

Just being the best damn group of friends.

Zo Ahmed

Best Man

Name: Zohaib Ahmed Alias: Brohaib Occupation: Legal Drug Dealer Zo is a rare human being, he’s ridiculously smart, outrageously hilarious with his rants (don’t get him started on how much he hates walking), with random outbursts of pure joy when he shouts “I love everyone here” from the bottom of his heart are just some of the reasons love this guy . Zo has been my partner in crime sometimes in a literal sense (I’m joking mom) since we were 15. Zo has always been a ridiculously smart person but he’s my friend whom I love doing ‘dumb things' with. Everything from terrible freestyles on live radio (there’s a reason it’s 2pac and not two Pakistanis), to sleeping in the middle of a field cause we were too poor to afford a hotel room on our road trips, to having the most masculine tradition of throwing extravagant parties and exchanging ridiculously high priced shoes. If you’re lucky enough to have Zo in your life, you will have a friend who is literally willing to go to Jail to protect the ones he loves, he’s always willing to bail his friends out of any situation and is always the first person I call when I need a walking wikipedia. Love you bro and I’m honoured to have you as my best man.

Colin Homes

Groomsman

Name: Colin Holmes Alias: Colla Balla, Baboushka, 'Ah, stop hitting me' Occupation: Professional Bear Ju-jitsu instructor Colin and I became friends in Jr.High right around grade 9. Colin was my friend that introduced me to a lot of things that I label as “white people shit” Everything from getting his mom to make me halal meatloaf, to camping and eventually one day we will fulfill our promise to eachother of fighting bears in our 50’s with Katanas. Colin and I have the same sense of twisted sense of humor. We grew up trading mama jokes, fighting each other (He would win 98% of them but that’s only cause he’s bigger and stronger), and getting caught in way too many situations that had our parents questioning their Son’s sexuality. Colin and I lived with each other for close to 3 years and I couldn’t have asked for a better roommate, brother, and heterosexual soul mate. Colin is someone I always want in in my corner, not only cause he’s an overall badass with guns on his arms to match his actual guns but because doesn’t allow a lot of people into his life but I'm lucky to be part of the chosen few you have a friend for life who will always be willing to put a roof over your head( which he’s done before) laugh at your offensive jokes and of course take me on more white people adventures and most importantly has been there for every crucial moment of my life. Love you brotha.

Rich Jaithoo

Groomsman

Name: Rich Jaitoo Alias: Hot Chocolate, Ghost of Spartan (Cause he’s covered in Ash), Ash Ketchum, Ashey Larry Jr, ‘Why does it look like you punch bags of Flour’. If he was a girl he would be named ASHley. My point is the dude needs lotion. Occupation: Part-time Model, Full-time Jigalo If you’ve ever been in a room with Rich for more than 5 minutes you can already tell what’s special about this guy. He’s always the life of party, with out-of-pocket jokes, and hilarious storytelling of childhood trauma, that all immigrant kids relate to. Rich is a fiercely loyal friend who is willing to head-kick anyone who would threaten him or his friends. Rich wears his heart on his sleeve and is always the perfect friend whether you need a good laugh or just an ear to hear you bitch bout life and talk about the mushy stuff that’s hard for most guys to talk about (curse you toxic masculinity) Rich is a person who genuinely loves ‘love’. He was the first I told when I knew I was falling in love with Dina (it was day one. I was texting him during our first date) I always viewed Rich as the little brother I never had. We spent our time as roommates roasting each other, cooking each other a bunch of meals, and having some weird poker nights. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I love ya lil bro.

Taurean Merchant

Groomsman

Name: Taurean Merchant Alias: T (Admittedly not the most creative nickname), T-money, Taaaaaureeeeeenooooo Occupation: Body Gaurd for Christopher Bridges Taurean has been an honorary member of my family for the past 22 years. Spending most of our time after school playing basketball, trying and failing to teach me how to ride a bike. We would spend nights in my parent's basement trying to impress girls on MSN messenger, and record comedy skits on my sister's video camera. We would often get in trouble at school or at home mainly because we were just trying to make each other laugh either by roasting each other or everything else in sight. Nothing was safe from our roasts, Teachers, Parents, Ja rule. They all faced our wrath. Even if they weren't in the same room. But even when I was getting yelled at by my mom, even I wasn’t safe. Taurean would have no chill and I would be getting the death glare from my mom and I would see Taurean in the corner of my eye singing spice girls and dancing and I couldn't help but laugh. The trouble was usually worth the laughs.. usually. Taurean would always come across as the coolest guy in the room but once you get to know him, you realize he’s just a big kid with a heart of gold. He’s the best storyteller I know making a trip to the bank seem like Shakespeare I spent countless nights with Taurean in the botanical gardens, eating ice cream and apple pies at 3 am, talking bout life, and dissecting our favorite songs. Love you, homie

Blake Davison

Groomsman

Name: Blake Davison Alias: Sweet cherry pie with a whip cream top. Punky Drublix, Occupational: Professional Wrestling Imitator Do you ever have those days when you wake up before work and you think to your self I would rather pour hot lava into my eyes? But "hey it's what their faces birthday in the office, so there's going to be Cake!" And that Cake makes the workday a lot better. Well, Blake is that Cake. While working at a soul-sucking job. Blake was the only thing preventing me from climbing the volcano and jumping in. We originally bonded over our nerdy love of comic books, 90's cartoons, and general nerd stuff but I knew I had a friend for life when I realized we had the exact same, terrible, appalling, no one should listen to us and we're going straight to hell humor. I introduced Blake to DMX and Wu-tang and he showed me the ropes with Punk music like NO FX (Which is freakin great live) Blake is that older nerdy brother that I wish everyone got to have. We would hit up Stand up comedy shows, punk bands concerts, and that one random time we were unwittingly at a drag show at dickens pub. He introduced me to the finer things of nerd life, like anime that didn't involve planet-breaking super sayains and of course the nerd classic of D&D and comic cons. Thank you for helping me embrace my inner nerd and making my time at Telus not totally suck. Love you, broski.

Haanee Lodhi

Maid of Honor

A sister can be seen as both ourselves and not very much ourselves – A special kind of double” I spent half of my life trying to raise this one and the other half trying to contain the monster I created. Mini-me. (I didn’t even ask for a sister just to be clear). But she was everything I probably needed and more. I could never have imagined the person whose diaper I changed, read books to and cuddled with at night when I had nightmares was also the person who was going to be my biggest backup in life. From fighting down the bullies (she always threw the first punch and somehow always ended the night with a black eye), to barg in to show people who's really boss (hint hint it's her); and being there when I had to vent about my day-to-day and truly being my person to talk to. I can't think of anyone else that I can chat about the worst things and the best things. I'm glad to say that Haanee has always been there for me, just like I've always been there for her. I ended up with a little sister who ended up being so much more than I could have imagined. She is like me in some ways, but in other ways, Haanee is truly a beautiful person of her own. I'm incredibly glad that everyone gets to see the creative, artistic, funny, caring, and all-around badass I get to see every day. Thank you for everything (We legit could not have done this without you). I love you.

Sasha Gubernskaya

Bridesmaid

You would think with her beautiful looks, materialistic needs, and badass Russian attitude that she would be a vapid witch. This is all true. She is exactly that and so much more. It’s hard for me to express what she’s been in my life, everything from the voice of chaos that can easily sway me with careless whisper and promises of jumbo mango marg’s, to the person who has wisdom beyond her years and calls me out on my shit while also encouraging me to do what's best for the situation even if it's admitting to Waji that I'm wrong. It would be so impossibly hard to explain how funny and smart she is. More so, she is the person to have in your corner, when she cares, this one really cares. Thank you. I love you.

Kendall Scarborough

Bridesmaid

"Dinaaaaa". The PTSD I have living with my best friend who also happens to sound like my mom is not one I can explain. She is everything to me and more. The one who took me in, made me laugh, took care of me, watched me cry, and have the most ludicrously extended case of food poisoning. Knowing her has made me understand what it means to take care of someone and have someone take care of you. Both her and Darnell. To have people who are the family you can forever be comfortable with. You can have all the tummy aches, or sadness, or even the mistakes. These two are the ones that will take you in and love you more than you thought possible. I love you both so much. Thank you for everything.

Gabbi Rodriguez

Bridesmaid

Gabbi I met this one so late in my life, and anytime I think about that all I can wonder is where the heck she was this entire time. I remember the first time I saw her, she was bartending with her nose stud and thinking damn she seems so Damn Gangster. Next thing I know Haanee is telling me we are hanging out and it was an instant click. From the moment we had our first conversaton, I knew I wanted to be friends with her. You would never guess it but she's the person I want to tell fart jokes to while watching badass scifi movies. People have always described my nerdy interest in lord of the rings, scifi and monster movies as some sort of 10 year old boy's fantasy, well Gabbi is that other 10-year-old boy that I get to nerd out with. Easily some of the most amazing memories are with this one. Thank you! I love you.

Danish Ahmed

Bridesmaid

I hate that I missed out on so many years with her. After seeing her for the first time in over 10 years I wasn’t really sure what to expect. We weren’t all that close as kids, in my head she was so badass, so why would she hang out with her dorky little cousin? She was always so outspoken, like really put up with no BS. It was so badass to 16-year-old me to see someone with such a defiant attitude. I got to see her, and I thought it was going to be a “Hey!” And nothing more but pleasantries. What I truly did not expect was to have her be so honest with me. Enough so that it was the first time in a long time I could talk about a lot. From life struggles to family struggles. I don’t think I quite understood what it was like to see someone not only be humble, but humble you enough to be honest about your difficulties and shortcomings. I needed that more than I could explain. Thank you for having me, loving me and just listening. I love you.

The Homies

The best of the rest
