We met at our young adult group at church. He thought I was cute, and I thought he was a random guy with a long beard. One day, he tried to match with me on Hinge—you heard that right. Naturally, I freaked out because a guy from church was trying to match with me on a dating app. Later, figuring it was probably a joke, I matched back with him. We texted and I thought it was over… I was wrong (lol). He asked me out that week at church—in the MIDDLE of all the young adults mingling. I was so taken aback by his directness and clarity that the words I heard coming out of my mouth were, “You know what… yeah, sure!” Well, the anxiety kicked in for me. That Saturday, we went on our first date. A few things went wrong, like the restaurant NOT having A/C and not having what I wanted to eat (which has ironically become a thing with Josh and me when we go out to eat—it’s happened three more times). By Sunday, I was feeling very anxious about a relationship, so I called him up and friend-zoned him. Yup, I friend-zoned him. The BEST man I ever met - friend-zoned! From there, we remained friends. We would hang out, laugh, and talk. I realized my dumb mistake of friend zoning him & one thing led to another… We officially started dating on July 13, and the rest is history! Josh proposed at White Rock Lake on our 9 month anniversary, April 13! He planned a whole day, from the Dallas Arboretum to my favorite pho restaurant. Then he took me to watch the sunset at the lake. When we got there, he had a blanket and flowers set up! He held my hand (we both were very nervous!) and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Obviously, I said YES 💍!!!
