Travel

Hello, wonderful friends and family! We are beyond excited to have you join us for this very special celebration of love, and we know many of you will be traveling from near and far to be here. Orcas Island is a truly magical place, and we can’t wait to share it with you (or if you're returning, we’re pretty sure the island missed you almost as much as we did!) For those of you who are planning your trip, here’s a little guide to help make your journey as smooth and enjoyable as possible. We want you to not only enjoy the wedding but the beauty and charm of Orcas Island, so we’ve gathered some travel tips, accommodations, and fun things to do while you’re here.

Travel Note

Housing

We are so excited that you’ll be joining us to celebrate our wedding on beautiful Orcas Island! As much as we’d love to be able to host you all under one roof, we regret that we’re unable to provide housing accommodations for everyone due to our limited budget. (Young love, am I right?) However, we want to make sure your stay is as smooth and enjoyable as possible, so we’ve put together some great recommendations and resources to help you find the perfect place to stay during your visit. While there are limited accommodations on the island, Orcas Island has a variety of cozy hotels, charming bed-and-breakfasts, and unique vacation rentals to suit all budgets and preferences. Whether you're looking for something luxurious, quiet and secluded, or more budget-friendly, there’s something for everyone. Given that Orcas Island is a popular destination, especially during the summer and wedding season, we recommend booking your accommodations as soon as possible. Rooms and vacation homes fill up quickly, and we want to make sure you have the best options available.

Travel Note

By Air

There are a couple of easy flight options to get to Orcas Island. (But they are on the pricier side!) You can fly directly into the island via Orcas Island Airpor] (ORC) with a short, scenic flight from Seattle or Vancouver. Airlines like Kenmore Air and San Juan Airlines offer flights, making the trip quick and convenient.

By Water

For many of you making the trip to Orcas Island, chances are, the ferry will be part of your journey. And let’s be honest, there’s a little bit of a love-hate relationship when it comes to the ferry experience. We know, we know—you’re either one of those people who love it, or you’re one of those who tolerate it with a healthy dose of exasperation. But wherever you fall, we can promise that it’s all part of the adventure. If you’re planning to take the ferry from Anacortes to Orcas Island, you’ll want to plan ahead, especially if you're arriving on the weekend or during peak seasons (hello, summer and holidays). Ferries can get crowded, and the last thing you want is to miss your sailing or be stuck waiting for the next one. Please remember the 2 rule! Reservations can be made 2 months in advance, 2 weeks in advance, and 2 days in advance prior to day of arrival. For example, if you are coming on Friday the Aug 1st 2025. You could get the ferry ticket June 1st 2025. Or July 18th 2025 or July 30th 2025. Additionally we recommend getting to the ferry terminal at least 45 minutes before your sailing time—especially if you're traveling on a Friday or Saturday when the island is busy with people heading to weddings (like ours), vacations, or weekend getaways. The earlier you arrive, the better your chances of getting on the first boat and avoiding any unnecessary delays. While the ferry system operates on a first-come, first-served basis, making a reservation ensures that you’ll have a spot, especially if you’re traveling with a vehicle. Reservations are a lifesaver during peak times and will save you the stress of trying to squeeze onto a crowded boat at the last minute. Reservations for the ferry can be made through Washington State Ferries online, and we encourage you to book as soon as possible to secure your spot!

FAQs

Question

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

Our wedding ceremony will be outdoors! Keeping this in mind we would love to see you dressed up but on the more casual side! Think outdoorsy (flowy skirts + dresses, chinos, nicer shorts!) Additionally our wedding venue is in a small garden so we request that you wear natural tones! ( think blue, green, brown, white, etc. DON'T THINK sparkles, sequins, etc.) This small detail will make our photos THAT much better. Above all we want our guests to be comfortable, keep in mind our wedding is in August!

Question

Do guests need to provide their own accommodations for the wedding?

Answer

Unfortunately, yes. Turns out the honeymoon suite is reserved for the happy couple, so you’ll have to find your own place to crash! But don’t worry—we’ve compiled a list of nearby hotels that are cozy, affordable, and won’t require you to sleep under a pile of wedding gifts in the back of your car.

Question

How do I RSVP to the wedding?

Answer

There is a section on this website specifically for this purpose! Just head over that way and you'll find exactly what you need!

Question

What should I do if I need to cancel my RSVP?

Answer

No worries! Just send us a text, email, or phone-call and we'll take care of it.

Question

Can I take photos or videos during the ceremony?

Answer

During the ceremony we would kindly ask that you enjoy your time without the use of your phone. Feel free to snap away during the reception—just no “I do” selfies, please!

Question

Can I attend the ceremony but not the reception?

Answer

Yes! No! Yes and No? The ceremony guest list has been dialed down for specific friends and family - that being said we would love to see you there! However, if you're pressed for time and/or unable to make both the reception and ceremony that's ok! - we prioritize our guests wellbeing!
