Amazing coral reefs and wildlife! You can do a quick local trip to Hol Chan Marine Reserve to either snorkel or scuba and then stop by Shark Ray Alley. Or spend a longer day going to the Great Blue Hole or surrounding reefs like Turneffe Atoll. We recommend: -Reef Adventures and Dive Tours
Beautiful beach on bay side of the island! Fun inflatable kids waterpark, numerous bars and restaurants with in-water tables. 30 minute ride by golf cart. We recommend: - Bamboo Fence Swing Bar - Blue Bayou
Can rent from the hotel for ~$50 a day, only have 4 seater option. Can also rent from other companies (slightly cheaper and have 4 or 6 seater options) that will drop off the golf cart to the hotel or airport. We recommend: - DMR golf cart rental
- The Truck Stop - Elvi's - Palapa Bar and Grill - Purple Pelican - Maxie's - Caramba's - Croc's Sports Bar - The Farmhouse Cafe - Overseas Bar - Sandy Toes Bar
- When arriving in Belize, the planes deboard from both the back and the front, so snag a seat in the back to get ahead in the customs line! - There are almost no cars on the island, everyone gets around in golf carts. - The national language in Belize is English - They use US outlets, so no need for converters - They accept both US dollars and Belizean dollars, exchange rate is about 2:1 (Belize:US) - Credit Cards are accepted most places - If something is spicy, it's SPICY - If you want to buy bottles of liquor, we would suggest buying at the Belize City Airport in the dutyfree store. Imported liquor (like Crown Royal) is about 22$ in duty free and about 80-100$ on the island. Local liquor, however, is about the same price.
-Belize does not require any visas to travel -For convenience, you should fill out the immigration form online prior to leaving the US and Belize: https://belizetravel.immigration.gov.bz/Belize_Digital_Forms/
The water in the hotels are filtered(safe for showering, brushing teeth, etc) but generally they recommend drinking bottled water. If you bring a reusable water bottle the hotel has a water cooler in the lobby you can refill with.
