The money dance, also known as “El Baile del billete” in Mexican weddings, is a cherished tradition that involves guests showering the newlyweds with dollar bills as they dance. This unique custom serves as a way to help the couple start their new life together by providing them with some financial support. It is a heartwarming and joyous moment during the wedding reception where family and friends come forward to dance with the bride and groom, each one taping a dollar bill onto them. During the money dance, guests are invited to approach the dance floor and take turns dancing with the newlyweds. As they dance, the guest will discreetly tape a dollar bill onto the couple’s clothing. This can be done on their backs, shoulders, or even pinned to their attire. The dollar bill signifies a monetary gift and symbolizes the support and well wishes from loved ones as the couple embarks on their journey together.

What are the dress code guidelines?

This will be a semi- formal dress code event, meaning: Men's clothing: includes and/or of the following of a suit, dress shirt, tie, dress pants, slacks, and dress shoes. Women's clothing: Includes a Dress that falls below the knee. Full ball skirt and Cocktail dresses. Footwear includes such as pumps, strappy sandals, or embellished heels. Accessories like statement earrings, delicate necklaces, and sleek clutches or small handbags. For extra elegance, you can add a pashmina or shawl over your shoulders. The following clothing is prohibited: Cut-off jeans, Jeans, men’s sleeveless shirts, shorts, t-shirts, Polos, sportswear, baseball hats, (flip-flops), Running shoes, and sneakers.

Yes, there is a parking lot on site free of charge with overnight parking.

Is this an indoor or outdoor event?

This will be an outdoor event throughout the evening. The reception area will be underneath a massive tent. Please bring jackets to stay warm once the sun goes down. Jackets can be left in the car, as the parking lot is a short walking distance to the venue.

The ceremony will be held on turf, so please wear appropriate and comfortable shoes/heels. The reception will be held on wood flooring.

When and where do I RSVP?
Answer
The window to RSVP will open August 25th when a formal invitation will be sent out. It will close October 3rd when the venue needs a firm headcount. You will RSVP here on the website. If you know in advance that you cannot attend, please let Vanessa or Santana know as soon as possible.

Maid of Honor
Jess is Vanessa's older sister. They were raised together by their parents, Chrissy Leonardson and Jim Hewitt, as well as their stepfather, Scott Leonardson. While growing up, they loved skiing, going on family vacations, watching SpongeBob, and anything and everything Disney. They grew even closer as they got older and bonded over their shared interests of concerts, espresso martinis, and exploring new places. In 2017, Vanessa became an aunt to Jess's dog, Chip, who together they love to spoil and support in living his best life. Jess and Vanessa's favorite thing to do is what they call "Chip and Chill," which is exactly how it sounds. If Vanessa is relaxing at home, she is likely on FaceTime with Jess talking about how perfect Chip is. Outside of that, they mostly communicate through SpongeBob quotes. Jess is the first person Vanessa calls when she needs advice or wants to vent because she knows she will listen and be there for her with anything.
Ryan Ocegueda

Ryan is Santana's younger brother and best friend. They were both raised by their parents, Carmen and Salvador Ocegueda. They grew up playing baseball, camping at the desert riding dirt bikes and quads, and doing other outdoor activities while always being together. At this time, the two are enjoying each other's milestones and created a brotherhood that will last a lifetime. They are each other's biggest supporters and enjoy the competitive rivalry they have with each other. They went to the same schools from pre-school to graduating college at Cal State San Marcos. When seen together, they are always laughing or talking about the endless memories they have made together so far in life. The two now enjoy Saturday mornings with their friends playing golf or going on a hike and getting some good food.
Miah Arias

Miah is Vanessa's best friend of over 10 years. They met over Facebook while in middle school, and became instantly close when they crossed paths at age 15. Through week-long sleepovers and being together every single day at school, they developed their own language and humor. Over their shared love of Halloween and good food, they made it a tradition every year to go to Scream Zone and the Delmar Fair. Presently, they love shopping, going to the winery, playing Cards Against Humanity, and watching their favorite movies/TV shows from high school including That 70s Show, Mean Girls, White Chicks, and anything horror. If you ever over-hear one of their conversations, they are likely quoting the movie White Chicks. As her longest friend, Vanessa greatly cherishes her relationship with Miah. They love to reminisce about their high school days, as well as talk about how much they look forward to supporting each other in the years to come and being friends until they grow old. Vanessa knows that she is in for some juicy tea when Miah texts her "B*tch..."

Dominic and Santana both grew up playing baseball at the age of 4 years old. They became close friends when they both made the Varsity Baseball team their freshman year of high school. After high school, Dominic and their friends enjoyed riding dirt bikes, grilling (mainly Dominic), and going camping with each other. Dominic and Santana have now been friends for over 15 years. Dominic is someone Santana can always count on to keep partying or be the friend that is always there for anyone in their friend group. They enjoy hanging with their friends, getting lunch (since they work close), and enjoying a cold beer with each other on the weekends since Dominic is busy on Dad mode with his beautiful one year old daughter.

Lily is Vanessa's cousin. They were born 5 weeks apart and have been making memories for as long as they could remember. Vanessa likes to say they were "friends since inside the womb." While growing up, Lily and Vanessa loved watching Disney movies together and singing Michael Jackson or The Naked Brothers Band. Presently, they enjoy getting lunch, doing their nails, cute DIY crafts, catching up over a glass of wine, and relaxing while playing with Lily's daughter, Avianna. Lily and Vanessa have always had a special and close relationship. Lily is someone Vanessa can talk to about anything without judgement and feel genuinely heard. Even when she is busy being a rockstar mom, Lily makes the time to check in and is simply the best!
Elijah Magallanes

Eli and Santana have been friends since the first grade of elementary school. They met through mutual family friends and lived a block from each other until middle school. They bonded over Yú-Gi-Oh and the PlayStation 2 SpongeBob video game. They played baseball together in high school and later on played in an adult league winning two championships. They enjoy talking about the Padres and watching games when the baseball season comes around. Eli and Santana now enjoy playing golf and managing their fantasy football team with their friends. Eli and Santana have been friends for over 23 years.
Talitha Lopez

Talitha and Vanessa have been friends since sophomore year of college. They both attended Cal State San Marcos and majored in Human Development. They met by sitting next to each other on the first day of research class and being forced to be social. Vanessa then realized that she and Talitha both lived in Murrieta because they were practically following each other the entire hour-drive home, leading them to become friends. Their first memory together is going to an ice cream parlor after class and seeing Drake Bell (who Vanessa loves). Talitha is the only friend Vanessa made from college, and they even got to sit next to each other at graduation to celebrate their achievements together. Presently, they love getting together for lunch, going to the beach, and dressing up to go get drinks. Talitha's kindness, compassion, welcoming nature, and bubbly personality are qualities that make her an amazing person and friend, and Vanessa greatly appreciates their friendship. Also, Talitha never has a bad hair day!
Alex Zermeno

Alex is Santana's younger cousin and first friend that he made at the age of 6 months. They both grew up playing outside and riding bikes with all their cousins at their Nana's house. Alex and Santana both played football and baseball in high school and now enjoy playing golf with all their friends. If you see Alex and Santana together, they are laughing usually from something Alex said that nobody understood, and Santana added to the joke making them both laugh uncontrollably. Alex holds the longest friend streak with Santana going on a 29 year streak and counting.

Angelique is Vanessa's cousin. They grew up together and even lived under the same roof for a while when they were about 6-years-old. That was a very memorable time for them filled with lemonade stands, hide and seek, and goofing off. Vanessa was always the first one awake at 6am to go wake up Angelique because she couldn't wait to play, even though Vanessa would often get yelled at to go back to bed. They maintained a close relationship as they got older, and Angelique has always been someone who Vanessa admires for her generosity, positivity, and fun spirit. Not to mention she is an incredible mother to her daughter, Jazmine. Together, Angelique and Vanessa love to get drinks and have game night with the rest of their cousins. Angelique is always ready for a good time, is the best hostess, and will hand you a fun glittery cocktail when you come over!

Sebastian and Santana became friends during their freshman year of high school, where they both played football. Sebastian also played video games with Santana and all their group of friends. During this time, Sebastian adopted the nickname "Bowling Ball" while getting roasted by Santana's cousin Alex. Sebastian requested to be called Bowling Ball, "Bball" for short. Bball joined going to the desert with friends and Santana's family after high school. They have continued playing video games 'til this day. Additionally, Bball also enjoys playing golf with Santana and their friends. Bball and Santana have been friends for over 15 years.
Adriana Gutierrez

Adriana, Vanessa, and Santana were coworkers at Pacsun, a clothing store at the North County Mall in Escondido. Adriana and Vanessa instantly clicked and became friends outside of work. They enjoyed going to the beach, getting In-N-Out, and would talk about Vanessa's crush on Santana. Presently, they still love hitting up the beach, watching movies, getting drinks, and talking about Vanessa's even bigger crush on Santana. One thing Vanessa and Adriana appreciate most about their friendship is the fact that even though life gets busy, they are always rooting for each other wholeheartedly and will pick up right where they left off when they see each other. Vanessa's friendship with Adriana is truly invaluable. Adriana is unapologetically herself, and is one of the most badass people Vanessa has ever met. She's a slow texter because she's on the football field!
Robert Gabriel

Robert and Santana became friends when they both worked at PacSun in the North County mall in Escondido. During their time at PacSun, they became great friends and started playing video games (NBA 2K) with Bball. While working at PacSun, Robert and Santana both became friends with Vanessa. Robert, and his girlfriend Christina, go on double dates with Santana and Vanessa 'til this day and enjoy some tequila, good food and good times. Robert also works for the same organization as Santana, and they enjoy getting lunch together on Tuesdays. Robert has been Santana's friend for 10 years.
