What is an Igbo Nigerian Traditional Wedding? An Igbo Nigerian Traditional Weddding is called “The Igba Nkwu”. The family of the bride complies a list of items that the groom's family will bring to the wedding ceremony as demanded by their Customs and Traditions. At the Igba Nkwu, the bride must search for her future husband who is hiding amongst a crowd of men. She will dance joyfully while scanning the room for her fiancé, and must correctly identify him by offering him a cup of wine, which he must then drink to denote he is indeed her groom. During the Igba Nkwu, guests are actively participating in dances and shower the couple with money which is called “spraying.”
