Iain and I met how people our age meet; Snapchat! Isn't that cute? Let me take you back to 2019 so you get the full picture. Back then, it was "trendy" to drag charger blocks up your walls and make them stick. You may ask, "why?" and 16 year old us would say, "why not?". Who would have known Iain and I would bond over us both having charger blocks stuck on our walls and that would bring us here, to our wedding. Iain and I "snapped" back and forth for weeks until we decided to finally meet. My friend, Gena and I drove to the baseball tournament that the Glendale High School was hosting. Although I was incredibly awkward and refused to get out of the car when I saw Iain approaching, we spent all day together. It was the best day. Iain asked me to be his girlfriend at the end of the day, and of course I said yes. Now, I thought I was in the clear and I wouldn't have to tell my mom that I had a new boyfriend yet. That was until my high school principal (and family friend) caught me that day holding hand with a boy! For anyone wondering, yes, he did tell my mother. Sorry momma. The heart wants what the heart wants. That brings us here, 6 years later, to the next chapter of our lives. Thank you so much for being here with us today!
To celebrate our 3 year anniversary, we went to Bandon. It is one of our favorite coast towns so we escaped there for the weekend. We booked an oceanfront room at the Sunset Motel. If anyone hasn't been there, its a cute and cozy motel near Face Rock. We love it there. I asked Iain if we could go to Walmart so we could get snacks for the weekend. Iain seemed a little off... but he does not enjoy the Walmart experience like I do. I had no reason to expect anything else. As soon as we got back to the room, Iain was begging to go down to the beach. Even though, I did not want to because it was getting dark and it was cold. We walked up and down the beach for awhile just talking. It was a nice evening and I was starting to think I was silly for not wanting to come down. It was super windy so I left Iain behind as I ran against the wind with my arms out. When I turned around, Iain was down on one knee. I was completely shocked! I said yes, of course. What I didn't know is that Tanner had drove all that way to take pictures of the engagement for us. It was such a special moment to see one of our best friends running towards us. It was truly a magical moment. We spent the weekend playing on the beach, eating good food and enjoying the moment. It was very special.
