The Nazca Lines, located in Peru’s arid Nazca Desert, are a series of massive geoglyphs created by the Nazca culture between 500 BCE and 500 CE. Spanning over 800 square kilometers, they feature intricate designs of animals, plants, and geometric shapes, such as the Hummingbird, Spider, and Monkey. Created by removing the desert’s top layer of reddish stones to reveal lighter earth beneath, their purpose remains a mystery. Theories suggest they were used for astronomical, ceremonial, or water-related purposes. Best viewed from the air, these UNESCO World Heritage Sites continue to fascinate as an enduring testament to ancient ingenuity. You can book short flights (Cessna 206) of 30 - 45 minutes, offering a spectacular opportunity to see 12 of the most famous Nazca Lines.
