Our love story began with Instragraaaaaam. Despite his initial interest, Segun played it cool and didn't follow me on Instagram right away. Maybe he was perfecting his "I’m not that into you" strategy. It wasn't until August 27, 2019, that I woke up to an Instagram notification from a mysterious handle. Segun had finally sent me a message, introducing himself as a friend of the family and expressing his condolences over my dad’s passing earlier that year. He also mentioned he wanted to check up on me, which was both sweet and unexpected. As days turned into weeks, our conversations blossomed, moving from Instagram to iMessage and eventually to FaceTime. There was an instant connection, and our bond grew stronger with each conversation. In January 2020, Segun visited Nigeria, and we went on our first date. By the end of that magical evening, he officially asked me to be his girlfriend. And so began our long-distance journey, filled with countless FaceTime calls, text messages, and trips to see each other. Despite the miles between us, we made it work, proving that love truly knows no distance. Fast forward to March 2024, we took a dreamy trip to the Maldives. One evening, Segun told me we were having dinner by the beach at sunset and asked me to get ready. As we walked to dinner, I noticed a beautiful setup on the beach. It was my dream proposal come true. Segun got down on one knee, asked me to marry him, and of course, I said YES! Now, we are excited to say “I do” in front of all our loved ones. Oh well, he’s been checking up on me ever since!
Peluola came into my life at the perfect time, right when I was finally ready for a relationship. I had known her family for years, but never actually met her. Truth be told, one of my uncles had been going on about this girl he knew I’d like because she was my ‘type’. Now, I’m not one for matchmaking, I always brushed it off until he sent me her IG page. Curiosity got the better of me. I checked it out, and before I knew it, I was hooked. The way she smiled through a screen, something about it just clicked. I knew I had to reach out somehow. So, I sent a message, casually checking on her well-being. That was the start. When we spoke on the phone for the first time, I swear I fell, Hard!. That feeling didn’t leave. It lingered for months, just a slow, steady pull I couldn’t ignore. Then came January when we met in person. It’s still vivid in my heart, what she wore, her smile, the way she walked. It was like a scene from a movie, only better because it was real. I could almost hear my guardian angel whisper, “God made this one just for you.” In that moment, I knew I wanted to be with her. Of course, I had to wait for the “yes”, but lucky for me, she said yes after 4 years of me acting right haha. And that’s how we ended up here.
