Some stories begin with chance. Ours began with intention — and with God quietly writing something bigger than we could see. What started as a simple match quickly became something neither of us expected. From the very first conversation, it was clear this wasn’t surface-level. Our talks weren’t about small things — they were about faith, purpose, healing, and what it truly means to build a life centered on Christ. One of the very first questions asked was about balancing independence while being spiritually united as a couple. Living in different states — Victoria in Orange County, California, and JJ in Peoria, Arizona — meant our foundation had to be built on communication. Phone calls, voice messages, prayers together, and honest conversations became our rhythm. Distance didn’t weaken what was forming — it strengthened it. The first visits felt less like meeting someone new and more like coming home. There was comfort. There was peace. There was laughter that felt effortless and a connection that felt safe. We worshiped together, prayed together, explored new places, shared quiet moments, and began dreaming about a future that, somehow, already felt certain. Over time, what started as curiosity turned into clarity. We both recognized something sacred in what we were building. Our relationship became rooted in faith, strengthened by vulnerability, and sustained by mutual respect, encouragement, and joy. We have walked through busy seasons, long drives, airport goodbyes, and countless countdowns — but through it all, we’ve chosen each other every single day. Our engagement was not just a milestone — it was a confirmation. A confirmation that God’s timing is perfect. That distance cannot limit what He ordains. That two lives, shaped by very different journeys, can come together beautifully when anchored in Him. Now, as we prepare to be married, we do so with gratitude. Gratitude for the miles that built our communication. Gratitude for the prayers that covered us. Gratitude for the love that feels both steady and passionate, peaceful and powerful. What began with a message has become a promise. And this is only the beginning.
