On December 25, 2015, Brianna sent Thea a message on OkCupid asking her how her day was going. Thea thought Brianna was cute, was thoroughly charmed by them instantly, and responded right away. After several weeks of casual chatting, Thea drove out to Palisade from Denver to spend the weekend with Brianna. By the end of the weekend, they were both fully smitten, and when Brianna moved to Denver in 2017, they made their relationship official. On December 25, 2022, Brianna took Thea back to the site of their first date at the Colorado National Monument. There, among the red rocks and ponderosa pines, under a brilliant winter sky, Brianna asked Thea to marry them. Thea said yes, and now here we are!
