How We Found Each Other

Once upon a random night, in a bar neither of us were supposed to be at, fate (and maybe a few drinks) decided to pull a fast one. I saw him first: tall, handsome, and casually dropping something about his daughter, in conversation like it was no big deal—but to me, it was. Sweet, grounded, and a cowboy hat? I was intrigued. We talked for maybe five minutes—just enough time for me to convince myself he probably wasn’t interested. Meanwhile, he walked away from that same five-minute chat, turned to his best friend, and said: “I’m going to marry that girl one day.” (So technically, he called dibs first.) But then… life happened. We left that bar and didn’t exchange numbers. No grand romantic gesture. Just two people convinced they'd probably never see each other again, which is exactly what makes what happened next suspiciously meant to be. Fast forward to a few weeks later— we stumbled upon each other again, both thinking, “Wait a minute... YOU!” It turns out we’d both been thinking about that five-minute encounter, that random night, that maybe-not-so-random moment. So we planned a re-do. A “re-meet.” Spoiler alert: the second time worked a little better. Like, “instantly inseparable, best friends, knew we were made for each other” kind of better. Since then, we’ve been each other’s favorite people. The kind of teammates who dream big, chase goals, and somehow still agree on where to order takeout from. Our daughters are forever sisters now, and we parent as a team and as a family unit. We each gained another daughter and could not love them both more. We laugh a lot, we love hard, and never forget how it all started. Cheers to forever to us, our beautiful girls, and our amazing life we have created together!
