Our story begins on Valentine's Day 2022 at a singles only party hosted by Michael's brother, Joe, who also happened to be Tana’s friend from graduate school. Tana arrived a little early to help get things set up, and while they were getting ready, Joe casually mentioned that his brother Michael would be there. Having only heard about him once or twice before, Tana had no idea of what she was about to get herself into. When Michael arrived, he immediately noticed Tana at the party. We struck up a conversation and quickly discovered something that would become a theme throughout our relationship: we could talk about just about anything. After the party, Michael asked Joe about Tana, only to be told to be patient. A couple months later, Joe hosted another gathering for friends and family and invited Tana. At the time, she gave Joe plenty of grief for the very last minute invitation. What she didn't know was that Michael had specifically asked Joe to invite her. Looking back, Joe deserves full credit for being an exceptional wingman. At a third get together, we spent nearly the entire evening talking. In fact, we were so absorbed in conversation that Joe and another friend became concerned that Tana, a true introvert, might feel trapped and sent someone over to check on her. For the record, she was having a great time and was very much not looking for an escape route—but the fact that anyone thought she might be still makes us laugh today. Shortly after, Michael reached out to let Tana know he had tested positive for COVID since we’d spent so much time talking in close proximity. Somehow, the COVID notification turned into texting almost every day. The texts kept coming even though several situations prevented us from meeting up in person. During this time, Tana learned Michael was watching Ted Lasso and caught up to him in just two weeks. Almost a month later, we finally had our first official date: Thor: Love and Thunder. During the post-credit scene, Tana spent more time watching Michael than the movie, waiting for a surprise appearance by Roy Kent's actor from Ted Lasso as Hercules. Thanks to a tip from a good friend, she knew it was coming. The moment the character appeared on screen, Michael turned to her and excitedly said, "It's Roy Kent!" and she knew she'd nailed the moment. Not long after that, we officially started dating, continued talking about everything and nothing, and quickly became inseparable. And while we're forever grateful to Joe for bringing us together, there is one final detail worth mentioning: We were never invited back to a singles only Valentine's Day party.
