Travel Note
Georgia is a great place to travel around. You can plan based on what you’re interested in or how long are you staying in Georgia. In case you arrive in Kutaisi, you can travel in the surroundings, such as: 1. Prometheus Cave 2. Okatse Canyon 3. Martvili Canyon Around Tbilisi, you can travel to: 1. Mtskheta (day trip, 40 minutes away from the capital) 2. Stepatsminda (kazbegi) – town in the caucasus mountains 3. Uplistsikhe – a cave town one hour away from Tbilisi, can be combined with visiting Stalin museum (his birthplace) Bit further out: 1. Vardzia – Cave town in south of Georgia, usually combined with visiting Akhaltsikhe Rabat Castle. 2. Batumi – Seaside city, also known as Dubai of Georgia. Can be reached by train as well as bus or private transfer. Much further out but absolutely worth it: 1. Mestia – historic town in the middle of Caucasus mountains. There are daily flights with a tiny plane that can take you there (40 minutes), or you can drive up there (9 hours from Tbilisi). Great for hiking and exploring. Flights are highly dependent on the weather conditions, so they get frequently cancelled. We recommend going there after the wedding, to be sure that all the snow is gone and all the trails are open by then. 2. Ushguli – Combined with Mestia Around the wedding location: Our wedding location is in the middle of the wine-making region. Before or after wedding, you can consider visiting: 1. Telavi – a cute small city 30 minutes away from the wedding location 2. Signagi – known as the city of love, also around 30 minutes away from the wedding location 3. Lagodekhi natural reserve – great area for hikes
