Sai Monkhon Sai Monkhon is a Thai wedding ritual where a sacred thread is used to symbolically join the couple's heads. This sacred thread is placed on the couple's heads, symbolizing their union and spiritual connection. It is symbolic that the thread forms two circles which whilst linked, also remain independent. This indicates that the couple’s destinies are linked, but individual identity is retained. Rod Nam Sang (Water Blessing) Ceremony A conch shell (known in Thai as "sang") is filled with holy water and is used by each guest to gently pour over the hands of the newly-weds ("rod nam" means to soak with water). Wedding guests pour water over their hands from a conch shell, symbolising their union and receiving blessings from guests. This heartfelt ritual solidifies their commitment and is a poignant moment in the ceremony.
