Oceans of Love

A Poem Written by the Honorable Justice John Charles Thomas for Sophia & Ross !

Oceans of Love On a windswept beach With endless views He dropped to one knee And proclaimed the news Of the thousand places He could have been He declared he’s lost If I’m not with him And so he asked On bended knee If I would join him And sail the seas Through storms and gales And gentle tides He beseeched me To stand by his side To trim the sails to hoist the jib To pull together To chase the wind And I exclaimed In pure delight That I would joyfully share this wondrous life And so dear friends Before ere long We will call on you To join with us in song A song of love of joy of peace A song we wrote on a windy beach A song that will lift our spirits high And forever prompt our love to fly John Charles Thomas Copyright June 1, 2023 All Rights Reserved

Flight

Santorini International Airport

Getting to Santorini is possible by plane and ferry boat. Santorini has an international airport which accommodates daily flights from Athens, and most European cities. There are also ferry boats from Athens (Piraeus) and the port of Lavrio.

Travel Note

SeaJet High Speed Ferries from Athens to Santorini

The High Speed Ferries are the quickest way to get from Athens to Santorini, however they don't allow for much sight-seeing of other islands. There are slower ferries that allow for more "island hopping" feel and are cheaper.

Travel Note

Ferry to Santorini from Athens

This is one of the main booking venues for all kinds of ferries from Athens to Santorini.

Rental Car

Santorini Car Rental Company

Santorini is a biggish island so if you wish to explore, we advise that you consider renting a car, a scooter or an ATV prior to your arrival. There is transportation available through Kalestesia during your stay however you may have to share rides with other guests.

Santorini Caldera Sunset or Day Cruises

We did a Catamaran Sunset Cruise on our last visit to Santorini which was the highlight of our trip ! We highly recommend you explore the island by sailboat, catamaran or any boat available!

Metaxi Mas Restaurant

Metaxi Mas Restaurant

Greece

Greek food does not need a recommendation, and Santorini has an abundance of great restaurants. We are partial to seafood and local small taverns. We Highly recommend METAXI MAS!

Savvas Popeye Restaurant

Savvas Popeye Restaurant

Greece

Arguably the greatest local fish tavern on the island. We absolutely loved our meal on the water at Savvas Popeye.

Daytrip to Anafi

Daytrip to Anafi

Greece

Anafi is the closest island to Santorini and easily accessible via ferry boat. Anafi is a tiny Greek Island away from tourist crowds. There are numerous ferry companies to take you to Anafi.

Best Places to view the famous Santorini Sunset

Best Places to view the famous Santorini Sunset

Greece

There are myriad of places and ways to enjoy the sunset in Santorini. In our opinion the best is from our very own Kalestesia Suites Resort. Oia, and Fira have the two top spots on Trip Advisor, but you will be surrounded by many tourists!

Swim at Black Sand Beach in Santorini

Swim at Black Sand Beach in Santorini

Greece

The Black Sand Beaches are a must. The Island of Santorini is, in fact, the top of an active volcano, and the black sand is volcanic rock! Kamari, has an organized black sand beach surrounded by cafes and restaurants right on the water!

Venetsanos Winery

Venetsanos Winery

Greece

One would not imagine that a barren, volcanic island in the middle of the Aegean Sea is capable of producing good wine! Santorini has many vineyards that produce excellent wine. We are partial to Venetsanos Winery, one of the oldest on the island which offers wine tastings with a spectacular view !

Santorini Vineyward Tours

Santorini Vineyward Tours

A great resource to book a winery tour on Santorini !

Akrotiri Archaeological Site, Santorini

Akrotiri Archaeological Site, Santorini

Akrotiri, 847 00, Greece

Santorini has a wonderful archaeological site at Akrotiri. The Akrotiri peninsula of Fira (the ancient greek name for Santorini) was a beacon for mariners and sea merchants. The archeological site is a short hike from our Wedding venue, which is also situated on the quiet Akrotiri peninsula part of the island.

Santorini to Mykonos High Speed Ferry

Santorini to Mykonos High Speed Ferry

Greece

Traveling to Mykonos from Santorini on the high speed ferry takes 2-4 hrs one way. Mykonos is a well known island among celebrities. If you wish to island hop during your trip, we recommend the islands: SIFNOS, FOLEGANDROS, MILOS, NAXOS and SERIFOS as options for island hoping on your way to and from Athens. There is also an airport in Santorini and you can fly to Mykonos for the day and back !
