Bridal Party

"She is a friend of mind. She gather me, man. The pieces I am, she gather them and give them back to me in all the right order. It's good, you know, when you got a woman who is a friend of your mind." --Toni Morrison Please check out our wonderful bridal party!

Nancy

Maid of Honor

Nancy and I met during my first tour in the Navy on the USS Carney. It was truly a defining experience. Some of my fondest recollections are the multiple dance parties we would have (or one of us walk in on the other having) in our stateroom. I can't think of a better "battle buddy" for life. It has been amazing to be able to share so many precious moments together as roommates, sailors, friends and moms. Nancy inspired me and taught me that I can be myself and be successful in the Navy, and furthermore in any space I'm in. Love you so much friend! -Yvonne

Jordan

Bridesmaid

In middle school (or it could have been elementary--my memory is so horrible >-<), we used to dream of growing up to live right next door to each other and to be married (I think to men who were also best friends) and live our best lives. The stories we (mostly me lol) would create! It is beautiful to see her growing family and I feel honored to have her in my life. I deeply appreciate how Jordan has supported and challenged me throughout so many different stages of life. I'm so glad we had that exchange at the pencil sharpener. -Yvonne

MJ

Bridesmaid

Where to begin?!? MJ and I met in high school, upon being selected for a scholarship for college. We were in the same POSSE and braved going to school all the way in New Orleans (from LA to LA). We shared so many fun moments! The funniest one I don't think I can share in public, but it involved a man and a car >-<. I am so grateful to have such a beautiful person in my life who is so authentically themselves. Also, please please check out her Instagram for creative DIY fashion (it is truly amazing)! @miairajennings -Yvonne

Diondra

Bridesmaid

Diondra truly modeled for me basking in the moment and enjoying life, even while on a deployment. I don't know how but it seemed that she poured so much into everyone who needed it. I am so thankful to Diondra for supporting and encouraging me when I was navigating (get it--because we were underway?) a difficult turning point. And we have had so much fun! It has been amazing to have such a good friend who also decided to settle down in San Diego. I admire her calming spirit and resiliency. -Yvonne

Mrs. Diana Solorio Gilmore

Officiant

We are blessed to have someone so dear to our family as the officiant for our nuptials! Celia has shared many fond memories with Mrs. Diana. It was easy to entrust the care of Celia to Mrs. Diana for years--she is a woman with a pure heart, a passion for teaching little ones, and has played a key role in shaping Celia and countless other children to love themselves and be kind to others. We are grateful to have her guidance and support as we grow our family.

Things To Do

Balboa Park

San Diego, CA

This massive urban park is home to stunning gardens, historic architecture, and free entertainment. We had one of our earlier dates here and I (Yvonne) will never forget sitting and watching the color show in the fountain! Walk the grounds, visit the newly re-opened Botanical Building, or check out street performers.

La Jolla Cove

San Diego, CA 92037

This picturesque cove is great for spotting sea lions, taking coastal walks, and enjoying breathtaking sunset views.

Old Town San Diego State Historic Park

Twiggs Street, San Diego, CA 92110

This is a cute area! I remember visiting at so many different points as a transplant to SD--taking improv classes, having a huge margarita with Mom, finding a "Celia" tiled cooking sign, and just having fun. Would definitely reccommend!

Seaport Village

849 West Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101

If you want more of a downtown experience--and I (Yvonne) definitely think SD has one of the most unique downtown areas in the country--check out Seaport Village! It's a charming waterfront area with unique shops, live music, and scenic harbor views.

Liberty Public Market

2820 Historic Decatur Road, San Diego, CA 92106

There's something here for everybody! This area used to be a Naval base and the remnants are clear to anyone who visits. We celebrated one of my birthdays at a local painting company (Nathan made a candle and I painted a Spongebob cup). You'll have to adjust to the airpplanes flying overhead but it makes it distinctive.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Our wedding will be held in Bonita! We have some recommendations for lodging that we have scouted as there are not many lodging options in Bonita itself (it is more of a rural area). The following hotels are about 10 minutes from the wedding and close to shopping and eateries. They are located in the Chula Vista Eastlake area. --Homewood Suites by Hilton Chula Vista Eastlake, Phone: (619) 591-4832 --Hampton Inn Chula Vista Eastlake, Phone: (619) 591-4830 --SpringHill Suites Chula Vista Eastlake, Phone: (619) 832-0902 The following hotels are also lovely! They are about 17-20 minutes away from the wedding venue and close to the Otay Ranch Town Center, a trendy outdoor mall. --Ayres Hotel San Diego South Chula Vista, Phone: (619) 870-8400 --Residence Inn San Diego Chula Vista, Phone: (619) 216-1000 The Chula Vista area is about 25-30 minutes away from downtown San Diego. If you are interested in the downtown experience, please check out the Westin Gas Lamp Plaza. --Westin Gas Lamp Plaza, Phone: (619) 239-2200 If you prefer vacation rentals or other lodging, we recommend you search for a hotel/rental in the Chula Vista Eastlake, Chula Vista Otay Ranch, or Chula Vista area. La Mesa is also another area that is not extremely far (20-25 min) from the venue. The Chula Vista area does have tolls, so please remember to select "no tolls" on any direction apps (or plan to get there a little more quickly than we anticipated if you are fine using toll roads)! Please let us know if you have any questions about lodging!
