We actually met through the world-famous dating app. You probably know which one I mean 😉 We planned to meet at Thierry, but it was completely full, so we ended up going to the Starbucks inside Urban Fare downtown instead. We sat there at a small table in the market café. He ordered a hot latte, which he later said isn’t something most Koreans usually drink (Koreans are famous for drinking iced americano even when it’s snowing outside.), and we just couldn’t stop talking. Time flew by before we even noticed. After that, we went for sushi, and in the middle of our meal, a tiny mouse, just like Ratatouille, ran across the restaurant. We froze for a second, then burst out laughing. Thankfully, we had almost finished eating by then. It sounds funny now, but that first date felt so natural and easy. I didn’t feel like I had to pretend or try too hard. I could just be myself. And honestly, his little teeth that show when he smiles totally caught my eye. I knew right then he’d make me laugh every single day.

Sohyun- My first thought was, “He is so Korean.” He had that typical Korean vibe, with glasses and a super neat outfit. I could tell right away. Deokmin- I thought the same thing about her too. She was wearing low-rise UGGs with short socks that almost looked like no socks, and a long coat. I was kind of worried because it was still really cold that day. We both laughed about it afterwards, realizing how we totally judged each other by our outfits. But once we started talking, all that disappeared. It just felt so easy and comfortable, like we had known each other for a long time. We both left that day thinking, “Okay, I really like this person.”
