On June 2nd, 2018 Sohan stepped into the NY Spotify office for his first day of work. All new engineers get assigned a “work buddy” - a teammate who helps them onboard to Spotify (aka helps them find the bathrooms and operate the coffee machines). Maja, who was in town from Sweden for a two month long project, got the honor of being assigned Sohan’s buddy. Both new to the city, they formed a bond & started to occasionally hang out during and after work. Maja left back to Sweden at the end of July, but the spark had started to form. Fast forward to March 2019 - Maja got a permanent position on the team in New York and was moving back full time. She claims it was because she missed the city, although Sohan swears it’s because she missed him. They got even closer, often walking to and from work together and hanging out on weekends. And then came Covid and the New York City exodus. While all their friends left town, Maja and Sohan started hanging out every single day for months, still maintaining - even to themselves - that they were “just friends” conveniently filling the role of each other’s Covid bubble. Finally in July 2020, they decided their feelings for each other were becoming impossible to ignore, and that it was worth the plunge into workplace romance. And thus (to the surprise of absolutely no one) their relationship had begun :)

Travel Note
For the US people: Make sure your passport is valid until end of 2025 (Sweden requires 6 months post the date you are leaving!)
Travel Note
Trips to Sweden can get rather expensive in early summer so book your flights early to Arlanda Airport! SAS, Delta, and Finnair are some examples of good airlines.
Travel Note
We have room blocks from Thursday to Sunday across the two venues (see addresses below). As there aren't too many other hotels nearby, we recommend you allow us to set you up with a room. They will go for roughly $120 - $200 per night for 2-person bookings (based on the room) and ~$110 per night for solo rooms, and you would just pay it when you arrive there. Let us know if you need one on the RSVP form, and we'll inform you where you'll stay! Of course if you would like to set up your own accommodations (or already live nearby), feel free to go that route as well! Accomodation locations Ekolsunds Slott: Ekolsunds slottsallé 1, 749 50 Ekolsund Aronsborg Conference Hotel: Helgövägen 12, 746 30 Bålsta

The easiest option is to try get an Uber or Taxi directly to the venue at which you're staying. Uber is generally cheaper if available, Taxi costs ~$100. If you want to come by public transit you could take bus 579 from Sky City / Terminal 4 & 5 to Bålsta Station (click "View" below for route), which takes ~1 hour. If you stay at Aronsborgs Hotel (and don't have a lot of luggage), you can get off at the "Kalmar Livs" stop and walk to the hotel (~10-15min) or take bus 301 from Bålsta Station. If you stay at the castle grounds, you can take bus 803 from Bålsta Station to the "Ekolsunds Gård" stop. See route: https://maps.app.goo.gl/K1SkcvUyz1LE9MRt9 . Google maps works quite well for public transportation :) If none of the above options work out, you can always book a taxi within Bålsta by calling one of the following numbers: +4617150049, +46707655655 We will arrange with buses between the venues for the Sangeet and Wedding day.
At a castle called Ekolsund Slott, 15 mins from Maja's childhood home! It is about 45 mins west from Stockholm and should be fairly easy to get to from Arlanda Airport.
Two days - an Indian "Sangeet" event on the evening of the Friday the 4th, and a wedding + reception on the 5th. If you want to come a day early and stay at the venue on Thursday, just let us know and we'll get it set up. Otherwise just try to arrive some time before the the Sangeet on Friday - assume a 5PM start time at the earliest :)
We recommend people wear an Indian outfit for at least the first Sangeet event, but it is definitely not required. The Sangeet is all about music, dancing, and celebrating—so think festive, colorful, and comfy! For the guys: A kurta pajama (bonus points for adding a Nehru jacket) or an Indo-western outfit works great. Example 1: https://www.manyavar.com/en-us/men/kurta-pajama Example 2: https://www.utsavfashion.com/men/kurta-pajama For the ladies: A lehenga, anarkali, or a saree—anything flowy and fun! Think bold colors, prints, or light embroidery, but don’t feel pressured to go full Bollywood glam (unless you want to!). Yes! Stockholm and the rest of Sweden are gorgeous during the summer, we definitely recommend you make a trip out of it.
You won't need it for the actual days of the wedding, unless you're looking to explore Maja's hometown during the mornings. We'll have shuttles to help people get to/from events, and Uber is also an option.
If you want a room at one of the venues, mark it in the RSVP. We (Maja, Sohan or one of our parents) will allocate you to a venue and let you and the hotel know, and you will be able to pay for it when you get to the venue. Of course if you don't need a room or want to book somewhere else, feel free to do so!
