We met the modern way: at Chili’s. Skyler was bartending, Anthony was cooking, and somewhere between food orders and shift changes, Skyler decided he was cute — even if she was perfectly happy being single. She may or may not have thrown a (butter) knife at him once as a flirting strategy. Bold? Yes. Effective? Also yes. After some mutual light chatting, Skyler made the first move on a night out with some liquid courage— and Anthony was very much interested. Their first date at a small Thai restaurant in Frisco lasted three hours, filled with nonstop talking, laughing, bonding over music, and a shared love for being nosy and spilling tea. Skyler left that date telling her friends, “I’m going to make him my boyfriend,” and she did. Not long after, their relationship went long-distance when Anthony moved to Nebraska for school and bowling. It wasn’t always easy, but daily FaceTimes, constant texts, and lots of plane tickets and road trips kept them close. When he moved back, they moved in together in Fort Worth, where Anthony lovingly became a dog dad to Skyler’s dog Baby, and their family soon grew to include cats Bubbles, Buttercup, and finally Blossom (a happy accident that completed their own little Powerpuff Girls trio). These days, you can usually find them hosting game nights, staying up way too late talking and laughing, and being each other’s biggest supporters. Somewhere along the way, they became best friends, each other’s biggest support systems, and each other’s home — and they can’t wait to finally make it official.
