Circa August 2018 Picture this: You're at a bar and the President of the Engineering Student Council walks up and starts talking to you. You're unamused, confused, maybe a little intoxicated, and concerned about this conflict of interest for your future with the student council. Then, he starts to tell you more about himself. You connect on 1,000 different levels, and he starts texting you the next day. A week later you're like "oh, okay, maybe this is more than just this guy talking to me outside of a bar.” He's sweet, confident, and you're completely surprised this conversation is continuing past the sidewalk of the bar. You tell your mom about this guy, still confused, but warming up to the idea of him. Then he willingly spends the day tailgating with your family at a football game. They cannot stop talking about him and how great he is. You realize this guy has defied the odds, he has aced all the tests, he's the best thing that has ever happened to you. This is when you know that he's the one. This is how Caroline met Riley. Picture this: I'm walking home from the bars in Columbia with a friend and ran into a girl from the student council. She was with her roommates and we stood outside of Harpos for two hours just talking. She was laughing at my jokes, a response I was not used to from most women. I thought the conversation could not have gone better. We went our separate ways and around 2:00 in the morning. Later that week, we realize that we were both at Piano Bar on a Thursday night and met up. We danced the night away and had an incredible time. I thought she was the whole package: gorgeous, hilarious, and as sweet as can be. I am thankful for Joe Edwards for sobering up with me in front of Harpos so I could talk to this girl, and Caroline, the love of my life, for falling for the Student Council President. This is how Riley met Caroline.
