Tappers is a favorite spot of ours. They have arcade games and pinball machines, and a full service bar. Please note they are 21 + only.
Fountain Square is near and dear to us, as this is where Jon lived when we first started dating and would explore the area frequently. The area is packed with unique restaurants, bars, music venues, coffee shops, and retail stores, and is a short walk from the reception venue.
This is one of our favorite Fountain Square shops specializing in leather goods from bags to belts and everything in between. They also have clothing apparel.
This is a super cool, vintage record and coffee shop in Fountain Square that we love.
Mass Ave is a cool street lined with shops, restaurants, and bars. We used to frequent this area often and ride our bikes through the area. There is something for everyone, and the shops have unique finds and local apparel.
Hotel Tango is one of our favorite distilleries! They own and are next door to the reception space The Foxhole. Feel free to check it out before cocktail hour begins at 3 or after the reception ends. Note the Hotel Tango building itself is 21 + only unlike The Foxhole. Parking for the reception is attached with the main parking lots in red and street parking in green. There are roughly 45 spots in the lots so if those fill up you may need to park on Virginia Ave located directly behind the back parking lot, or on Elm Street on the bridge. There are sidewalks on both sides and ample spots here, but just require a short few minute walk to the reception.
We are monitoring the weather day by day and hopefully it will not rain during the ceremony. As long as it is not severe winds and thunderstorms, we will still do our best to keep the ceremony outdoors at the Gardens in the Zoo, but please bring umbrellas/ponchos/rain jackets/extra shoes or whatever you need to stay dry and comfortable in the event that it does rain. If we absolutely have to, we will move the ceremony to the reception space at The Foxhole. We will likely have this bumped back to closer to 2:15/2:30 so that we can just transition straight from the ceremony to cocktail hour. We will coordinate pictures with family and the bridal party for beforehand if this does happen. As the week progresses, we will update this and confirm times/places. As not everyone will be checking the website, feel free to keep others in the loop.
No, when you arrive for the ceremony, just tell the parking attendant that you are here for the Gardner wedding and you will not have to pay the parking fee. There are no designated spots, however, so depending on how busy the Zoo is you may have to walk a little distance to get to the entrance. When you arrive to the main entrance gate for the zoo, just say you are here for the Gardner wedding. No tickets are needed. Guests are welcome to stay and enjoy the Zoo after the ceremony ends. There are a couple of free hours between the end of the ceremony and the beginning of cocktail hour at the reception so feel free to take advantage of this, especially if you have littles. You are welcome to stay as long as you would like after the ceremony, however, they ask that you do not come hours early before the ceremony or you will have to pay.
The hotels in the immediate area are unfortunately mostly filled up from the WNBA being in town that same night, however we have several accommodation options for anyone needing a space. Air BnBs are a good option, especially if you can split it with others. If you need somewhere to stay and have issues finding something, please reach out to us directly and we will see what we can do.
All children are welcome for the ceremony/free zoo admission afterwards. However, our reception space is quite small and our family is quite large. With that being said, if you are not immediate family or part of the wedding party, we please ask that you attempt to find a sitter/family member to watch your children during the reception hours if at all possible. If you have any questions or issues, just reach out to us. Thank you for understanding!
There are about 45 parking spaces at The Foxhole by Hotel Tango. There are some in the front of Hotel Tango, and then there is a slightly bigger parking lot behind the building as well. If those spots fill up, there is also street parking. Virginia Ave, the residential street directly behind the back lot, has street parking available for use. You may also park on Elm Street on the bridge over the overpass, there will just be a short (2-3 minutes) walk. We have attached a parking map with the spots noted under the section Things to Do - Hotel Tango.
