Harrell and Shequesta met in 1995 at Dillard High School. HB, the senior varsity basketball player and Questa, the sophomore Junior Varsity cheerleader, didn’t really have any real interactions except for the occasional “hi’s and bye’s” because of the basketball games. Fast forward to Fall 1998, while at Bethune-Cookman College, Questa hears a familiar voice while walking the yard. “Hey Slim” was the greeting I got and it was Harrell. Surprise to see him there, we shared a short conversation and promised to check in later. Questa didn’t see HB for another 10 years, until she saw him at Lauderdale Lakes Park where they exchanged phone numbers and promised to hangout…AS FRIENDS!!!! Things Heat Up… For a short time, Harrell and Questa dated. He was getting out of a long term relationship and Questa was still single and chilling. Questa discovered another side of HB that most people really don’t see. He is thoughtful, compassionate, funny, geeky, trustworthy, and gives great advice. Questa truly found a friend in Harrell. Unbeknownst to Questa, Harrell found the person he wanted for the rest of his life. He just had to find a way for her to see it. That January 2016 Day… After an embarrassing breakup, Questa confided in Harrell with her thoughts and feelings surrounding the breakup. Harrell was kind and supportive and helping her navigate this humiliating moment. He stepped in being a physical support by getting Questa out of the house and helping her realize she’s worthy of love and happiness. During this period, Harrell suffered great losses. Questa was his backbone while he navigate his new normal without his super hero grandfather, Super B and his mother. What made Shequesta “The One”? “I have known this woman is truly beautiful inside and out, in different phases of her life, in which the last one, is and prayerfully with me, what she truly deserves, while she continues to make me the best version of myself!! I have in spite of the many heartaches and losses that happened so abruptly, she was and still is my guidance to help reel me in 🙃. I can go on, but overall the great person she is and she continues to work on being the best version of a Mother, Friend, Co worker and Partner. But what was the deciding factor of me actually taking this journey, in which I failed the first time, I try not to be as sentimental, but she didn't know, when in my darkest moment, I went somewhere dark and quiet and asked GOD that allow me to go through this process to heal and through his will, he allow me to find that person and leave no doubt in my mind and heart that I just Know 😌. And here she is and I thank you because BABY, He ain't through with me yet 🤣😉.” What made Harrell “The One”? “I never wanted to get married. It was never on my list of things to do or a priority. Through a conversation with Harrell, I begin to look at him differently. There is no secret he is a handful (please keep me in prayer🙏🏾) but also one of the sweetest persons I know who, even in his own darkness, always willing to help someone. He supports me, motivates me, encourages me. He makes me laugh, he makes me angry, but most of all, he makes me feel desired and loved. I’ve never felt seen before, nor have I ever felt protected and secure…until I met him. He is MY person! He chose me and I chose him! Decision Day… Harrell and Shequesta both agreed they didn’t want a big fuss. They wanted something that was super small and very intimate with only close family and friends. They decided to go to the courthouse because for them, they are focused on the marriage and not just the day. They chose to wear black because of what it represents (power, royalty, strength, elegance, neutrality) and its Questa’s favorite color 🤣. Our guest will be asked to wear white to help signify and celebrate a “new beginning” for Harrell and Shequesta. #BROWNISBEST
