Sangeet and Mehndi: A Celebration of Color, Music & Joy

Before the wedding day arrives, we gather for one of the most vibrant and joyful celebrations of the entire wedding - the Sangeet & Mehndi. This beautiful tradition comes from centuries-old cultural customs and is not tied to any particular religion. Instead, it is simply a heartfelt celebration where family & friends from both sides come together to bless, laugh, dance, and celebrate the couple.

The décor is inspired by shades of yellow and green, symbolizing happiness, new beginnings, and the blossoming of a new life together. Guests will see women dressed in traditional outfits adorned with beautiful jewelry and colorful bangles. Music and dance are at the heart of this event. Expect upbeat songs, laughter, and spontaneous dancing as everyone joins in the fun. It’s often the moment when both families truly begin to feel like one big joyful team. A special part of the evening is the Mehndi & Ubtan blessing ritual. The bride & groom are seated together; guests are invited to come forward one by one to gently apply a small touch of henna or ubtan (a traditional herbal paste) as a symbolic blessing and may also offer them a sweet treat, known as mithai, wishing the couple a life filled with sweetness and happiness. The Sangeet & Mehndi is a night of music, dancing, laughter, delicious food, and a celebration of love, community, and the beautiful blending of two families.

Nikah and Reception
