At the start of 2024, Sam and Thando met at a newcomers brunch at their pastor's house. Sam was a newcomer, and Thando, as an established member in the church, was there to be a friendly face to welcome people and get to know them. Sam thought she was a very friendly face and within a couple months asked her out on a date. To his excitement, she agreed and from there he worked his magic. And after a year filled with exciting adventures, they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Sam obsessively practiced a love song on guitar (at great annoyance to his neighbors), booked out the basement of a bar, and got Thando to meet him there under false pretenses on a random Tuesday. Thankfully Thando didn't know the bar had a private room, so she was completely surprised to find Sam waiting there with his guitar in a romantically lit room, decorated with candles and roses. The reports of what followed are conflicting. Sam would say she endured through his mediocre vocals and good guitar playing, while Thando would say she was awestruck by the most wonderful song she had ever heard. Either way, they're now engaged and cannot wait to get married in May.
