First comes fried chicken, then comes marriage!

May 22, 2024

We first met on May 22, 2024 at Pelicana in Capitol Hill at a networking event Sam was hosting for Korean American young professionals. What started as a casual party turned into the beginning of something much bigger. Not only did we exchange Instagram handles that night, but Sam also bought Sunny a round of tequila shots as a thank you for bringing people to the event. At the time, neither of us knew that would be the start of our story. Soon after, Sunny made the first bold move...sliding into Sam’s DMs to ask about some “work" related issues (and by “work,” we mean... well, maybe not just work 😉) From there, Sunny somehow found plenty of reasons to be on the eastside, and whenever she did, she found herself hanging out with Sam. What began as casual meetups quickly became a regular part of both of our weekly routines. After spending the next couple of months getting to know each other, Sam finally worked up the courage to ask Sunny out in August! And the rest, as they say, is history!

Celebrate with Us

We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other; two very different people who somehow fit together perfectly! Sam is the calm in the chaos: thoughtful, empathetic, endlessly traveling, and the kind of person who can make anyone feel welcome within minutes. Sunny brings the passion and spontaneity: always dreaming up the next adventure, full of energy, curiosity, and just enough wild ideas to keep life exciting. Together, we balance each other in the best ways possible. What started as two separate lives somehow became one shared story filled with laughter, travel, late-night snacks and so much love from the people around us. We are so grateful to celebrate this next chapter with our favorite people. Thank you for being part of our story. We truly can’t wait to celebrate with you.

Wedding Party

Theresa Lee

Maid of Honor

Sunny and Theresa’s friendship began during the Covid quarantine era..living in the same apartment building in Cap Hill, just two floors apart, surviving lockdown with Netflix marathons of Singles’ Inferno, endless wine nights, and questionable clubbing decisions that eventually resulted in all of us getting Covid together. Truly a bonding experience. Since then, Theresa has been Sunny’s built-in emergency contact, therapist, drinking partner. So when Sunny asked Theresa to be her Maid of Honor, her immediate response was: “Unni… I don’t think I can hold my cry.” But honestly, that level of emotional empathy and kindness is exactly why she was promoted to Maid of Honor!

Willy Cho

Best Man

Willy is Sam’s younger and only brother with a slightly more rebellious nature. Growing up, he followed Sam everywhere. They lived in a small two-bedroom apartment, and they would share the room and bed. Even after moving into a bigger house, Willy would always insist on sleeping in the same bed. If Sam was invited to a friend's party or sleepover, it was just understood that Willy would come too. The two grew up inseparable--a bond they still share today despite being on opposite sides of the country today. Some things never really change. Willy has always been the "robin" to Sam's "batman." He has always been one of Sam’s most loyal people, which is exactly why it's only right to make him Sam's Best Man!
