Where it all began

Our story began at the University of Oregon in March 2015. Through the introduction of mutual friends and lots of cat & mouse, we finally decided to commit to one another and started officially dating in May. After enjoying our senior year as an official couple, before we knew it we had graduated college and were onto the ‘real world’ - looking for our first full time jobs & trying to navigate big life decisions. We settled in San Francisco in 2016, living with our friends initially where our relationship continued to develop, grow, and mature. After three years of living separately in the city, we finally decided it was time to take the next step & move in with each other. Our first home was a classic 1BD Nob Hill apartment. Settling into our new apartment and learning how to live together for the first time…life was great! And then March 2020 happened….before we knew it, we were doing everything together – working, cooking, working out, and sharing space in a 600sqft apartment. Despite these changes, we always found ways to remain happy and enjoy the small treasures in our lives. While we were content in SF, we began to think about what else was out there and decided to make a big life change and move to South Lake Tahoe, CA in October 2020. This ended up being probably the best decision we made together, living right under Heavenly mountain – where Sam got to teach Allison how to snowboard, and eventually adopting our first furry son, Cashew, in 2021. After enjoying 2 years of Tahoe’s beauty and making new friends, our adventurous spirits led us to Corpus Christi, TX - where Allison’s family was living. In October 2022, we made a 5 day trek halfway across the country and have been settled in Texas for over 1 year now. Throughout the twists & turns of life, jobs, family - our love for one another has continued to grow and mature, culminating in a beautiful ceremony that both sides of the family will get to celebrate & experience together. We are extremely excited & grateful to share this special moment in Ojai, CA on June 15, 2024 with you! Love, S&A

FAQs

Question

Why Ojai?

Answer

Sam and I have no connection in Ojai...so why are we getting married there? We really wanted to incorporate a labyrinth into the ceremony due to its meditation symbolism, so when we found this one, we knew it was meant to be.

Question

Do I get a +1?

Answer

Due to limited capacity, we are only able to accommodate those formally invited on the invitation.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

There will be some children at the wedding, but if we haven't already spoken to you about it, please plan to leave your little ones at home.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Show up in formal attire! For footwear, please be aware we'll be outside walking on various surfaces.

Question

What if I can't attend?

Answer

You will be dearly missed! If you cannot make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP "no" on Greenvelope, so that we can plan accordingly. Thank you!

Question

Can I take pictures or videos during the ceremony?

Answer

We are having an "unplugged" ceremony. This means we are asking all phones and other devices be put away and on silent/turned off during our ceremony so that all guests can be 100% present with us during this time. After the ceremony, please feel free to take as many photos as you want and we promise to share our ceremony photos as soon as possible!

Question

Can I drive myself to the venue?

Answer

Due to the venue being on someone's private property, there is limited parking space. We are having a shuttle take guests to and from the venue so everyone can make it on time and no one has to stress about driving. Shuttle times will be announced soon.

Question

What's the weather like in Ojai & Ventura in June?

Answer

Ojai will be a little warmer than Ventura since it's more inland (high of 77/low of 53), and Ventura is near the ocean so naturally it will be cooler (high of 70/low of 58). Bring a light jacket!
