Our Story

They say you find your person when you stop looking—and for us, that couldn’t be more true. Of all the places we could have met, NASCAR wouldn’t have been our first guess. But just a few weeks before the Texas Motor Speedway race, a good friend of mine and his wife mentioned they wanted to go. I’d always wanted to attend again—NASCAR holds a special place in my heart through memories of going to races with my uncle in remembrance of my cousin Braxton. So I told them, “Let me text my uncle—let’s go!” Fast forward to April 12th. We’d just arrived in Fort Worth and made a quick stop at the track to grab our passes and check things out. About five minutes in, I found myself standing across from Charlie, wondering who he was. My uncle introduced him as one of the guys staying in the RV—and a friend of Braxton’s. From that moment on, we couldn’t stop talking. What started as simple “get to know you” conversation quickly turned into deeper discussions, uncontrollable laughter, and inside jokes that left everyone else completely confused. Aside from sleeping (him in the RV, me at a nearby hotel), we were inseparable the entire weekend. Less than four days after we got back to Oklahoma City, we went on our first official date to Sushi Neko. It was everything a first date should be—easy, fun, and full of connection. Just like at NASCAR, we were instantly attached at the hip. From that point on, our relationship felt like home. It was the most natural, loving, and joy-filled friendship either of us had ever experienced. We went to church together that first Sunday, and just a few Sundays later, our families were spending Father’s Day together. We treasure our faith, our families, our friends, and our two pups, Dax and Neko. One year after that unforgettable first date, Charlie proposed—at home, with the dogs right there with us. It was quiet, intimate, and perfect. We celebrated afterward with some of our closest friends and family. We’re so excited to share our journey with the people who mean the most to us as we step into this next chapter together. And we carry with us the love and memory of those who can’t be with us in person, but who we know played a part in leading us to each other.
