Wild Sugar Homestead, Vermont

Registry

We are in the process of building a house, which means we have nowhere to put physical gifts at the moment! Your presence is the gift. If you wish to contribute something beyond that, we are grateful and will put it toward our future home.

Attire: cocktail-casual. Bring a sweater!

If you're arriving on Friday, please join us for dinner at Wild Sugar Homestead. We'll be having wood-fired pizza and drinks. Andy Teirstein and friends will be leading a bluegrass jam session outside or in the barn; bring an instrument or a song if you're inclined!

Yoga with Ava

10:00 am - 11:00 am

Bring a yoga mat!

On the morning of the wedding, our friend Ava will be leading a yoga class for all levels on the lawn (weather permitting). There will be plenty of time to head back to your Airbnb and get ready before the wedding. If you've ever partied with Ava this event is mandatory.

The Wedding

Sat, Sep 20, 2025, 3:45 pm - Sun, Sep 21, 2025, 2:00 am

Attire: Cocktail. Wear something that makes you feel beautiful and shoes that may never be the same again.

The ceremony starts promptly at 4 p.m. Please arrive by 3:30 to leave yourselves enough time to park and walk the 15 minutes to the ceremony site, which is slightly uphill. Anyone who arrives late will be walking up the hill with the bridal procession, so don't arrive late! What to wear and bring in order to have the best possible time: 1. Shoes that don't have a crazy heel (you will have to walk through a large field to get to the ceremony site and grass will be underfoot everywhere except for in the barn) 2. A jacket and a sweater - autumn in Vermont arrives early. If you're cold you won't want to hang out late and we want you to hang out late. Nobody's allowed to leave. Note to drivers: Please follow signs to the parking area and note that parking is somewhat limited. The parking attendants will help you park as economically as possible. Carpool if you can!

FAQs

Question

Why central Vermont?

Answer

Our friends Erik and Hallie bought this 70-acre property during the pandemic and have spent the past few years turning Wild Sugar into a vibrant community hub. They host only 10 weddings a year, each one an enormous labor of love and care. Everything from the parking lot to the compostable toilets is designed to host a party that doesn't disturb the land or any of the beings that call it home. This place holds some of our earliest and fondest memories. The first wedding we ever attended together was Erik and Hallie's—which was also the first at the homestead. If you can't make it to Vermont, we completely understand, and we so look forward to celebrating with you in Massachusetts, New York, or wherever we see you next!

Question

Is there a shuttle to and from the venue?

Answer

Unfortunately, no. There are too many different lodging options to coordinate transportation between them and the venue. Please consider carpooling and nominating a designated driver in your group. The silver lining? No rickety school bus moment where you're trying not to puke up two liters of wine while reliving elementary school traumas.

Question

Is there parking at the wedding venue?

Answer

Yes, for about 70 cars. Please carpool if you can! Also, please note that the west side of Tucker Mountain Road is not passable. Sometimes GPS systems guide you that way—don't listen to them. Listen to us. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not use the west side of Tucker Mountain Road to reach the venue. It is impassable. If your GPS shows "Bowen Road," it's taking you the wrong way. Approach Wild Sugar Homestead from the east.

Question

What if it rains?

Answer

Only the (short) wedding ceremony is outdoors. Hopefully the weather gods (liberals) smile upon us. But if not, we'll relocate to the barn or go under the tent. Pack a raincoat and extra layers just in case!

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

We love your children, but we ask that you please leave them home. Give us a call if this poses a major challenge.

Question

Where's the closest town?

Answer

Bradford, VT is only 10 minutes away. It's got restaurants, coffee shops, gas stations, and an antique shop. Kind of similar to New York City, if any of you have ever been there.

Question

Am I expected back at Wild Sugar on Sunday?

Answer

Nope! Be free. There are a number of lakes and streams for swimming nearby. We highly recommend bringing a breakfast sandwich to Hall's Lake, a 10-minute drive away.

Travel

First—anyone and everyone is welcome to camp on the property. We'll have a big field reserved for you. Just bring a tent. But let's say you, like Ryan's mom, would rather do literally anything other than camp. There are a number of Airbnbs in the area. This is a great option for groups of friends and family hoping to stay in a big house together. Search near Bradford, VT. We recommend booking your place sooner rather than later—September is peak tourism season in Vermont. We also have a block of rooms on hold at the Nootka Lodge, a 22 minute drive from Wild Sugar. Two nights in one of their quaint "log" rooms (a king bed or two queens) will run you about $380 total. You can also request a slightly cheaper or more expensive room when you call to make your reservation. Reference "Ryan and Zoya's Wedding". Finally, for anyone looking for a little bit of luxury, there's the Innstead Mountain Getaway 15 minutes from the venue. More info, including a list of curated Airbnbs, below.

Search near "Bradford, VT". If you are not finding any Airbnb availability for our specific dates, remove the dates parameter and search in the area more generally—some Airbnb's only book six months out. If you see a house in this general search that did not appear in the more specific one, you can message the owner and ask to reserve our dates. We have it on good authority this is a normal and cool thing to do in the Airbnb world.
