I begin this story with "suddenly one day," because life took a sudden turn with a seemingly small decision. My Brazilian brother-in-law called me one summer afternoon to set up a double date with a friend. I was not expecting this, but that very morning I had been wondering about times I had turned down such opportunities. I wondered whether I had made wise decisions. Life was a solo dance that coordinated with many beautiful people around me. But something inside said I would not regret accepting this one suggestion. I said yes. A year later, Ryan and I accompanied each other on family vacations. We say that we fell in love with each others' families before each other. Of course it was exciting to make a new friend! It always is, and we hit it off. Our professions and ministries were alike enough that our life experiences related. Our personalities and gifting were different enough that we were fascinated. But our families are the bones of who we are, the beautiful people I speak of, and include friend circles that we brought each other into. We will never forget family vacation summer. A deeper commitment was born. December 22, 2018, we met for another double date with my sister and her husband. It happened at the same restaurant as on that warm sunny day in July. But this time we met for another reason. I was completely unaware of what was waiting for me in the parking lot that day: A ring and a Promise♥️ And now this summer we take a step that forever changes us, fully and powerfully. Greater intimacy of heart has had time to develop, as step by step we have grown a capacity to connect over deeper things. Something that outruns both of our dreams is happening, challenging us and blessing us, and we choose to embrace it. We choose to become one. We know God's hand is upon us, and that He hears the prayers of many on our behalf. We thank you for being part of our journey! And this story. Our God makes everything beautiful in His time.
