There are several other mansions and historic properties besides Rosecliff that we love to visit year-round. We definitely recommend taking the self-guided tours if you have the time.
Be sure to take a stroll or run along the Cliff Walk. It stretches 3.5 miles along the coastline. Follow the paved pathway that passes by The Breakers and other prominent mansions from the Gilded Age. Take in views of the ocean, Salve Regina's campus, and don't forget to walk down the Forty Steps!
The International Tennis Hall of Fame is a Newport landmark. Tour the museum, grab lunch/cocktails at the La Forge Casino restaurant, or stop by the gift shop to get your tennis fix.
Hop in your car and take the 10 mile route along the famous and breathtaking Ocean Drive. You'll see beautiful homes along the oceanside and pass by one of our favorite places, Castle Hill Inn! Fun fact: Along the Ocean Drive route, you will pass Hammersmith Farm. It was the childhood home of First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, and the site of the reception for her 1953 wedding to U.S. Senator John F. Kennedy. During his presidency, it was referred to as the "Summer White House". It's now privately owned.
Enjoy cocktails on The Lawn at Castle Hill Inn, one of our favorite Newport spots! We recommend taking in the brilliant sunset views from their famous Adirondack chairs.
Gooseberry Beach is a private beach club open to the public. Located along legendary Ocean Drive, it is only about a mile from historic Bellevue Avenue and the Newport Mansions. A lovely spot for photos and relaxation.
These cobblestone streets in the heart of downtown Newport lead to great restaurants, bars, coffee shops and eclectic boutiques. On Lower Thames Street don't miss our favorites: Inpopnito Popcorn in Disguise, Wish Designer Consignment Boutique and Bouchard's French restaurant. Upper Thames: Brooks Brothers, Helly Hansen and Brick Alley Pub for a post-shopping drink!
What used to be the center of Newport's commercial seaport in the colonial days is now the hub of Newport's harbor-side shopping and dining. The Black Pearl is a must for clam chowder.
The anchor of the Newport waterfront! Marina, restaurants and nightlife, sailing tours, boutiques and galleries. Stop by our favorites: 22 Bowen's Wine Bar & Grille, The Cookie Jar, The Black Dog and Kiel James Patrick.
If you're looking to check out Newport's nightlife, we recommend hitting The Pelham! It's the most popular spot downtown, with live music and pub games.
