We met through online dating. Neither of us sure that this was actually a viable way to meet a great person, someone who could end up being someone we could see ourselves wanting to spend the rest of our lives with. Sherman messaged me first on the dating app and I actually scrolled past his picture several times and reading his profile before deciding to take a chance. It was the best decision I ever made! We texted for several days then decided to share phone numbers and talked by phone for almost a month before the decision to meet in person was made. I was the one to make the final decision about meeting, and wouldn't let anything stand in our way. Sherman is an amazing man, single father who also cares for his special needs nephew, and has his mother living with him because he worked the night shift when we began talking and then dating. Once we decided to meet I didn't want to wait. Fall is a busy time for Sherman as a high school football coach. Between work, practice, and family obligations there wan't a lot of free time. I decided the easiest way for us to meet was for me to drive to Sarasota and meet Sherman for lunch or dinner. I love college football, which was a bit of a surprise for Sherman. So naturally our first date was a lunch date in Sarasota to watch the Michigan Wolverines football game (GO BLUE!). Best first date ever! He was shocked that I not only love football, but actually understand the game. I was shocked to watch a game with someone who coaches, loves the game, but didn't feel the need to "mansplain" it to me. September 30, 2023 was the start of an amazing relationship. Fast forward to now.....soon we will be saying our vows with our closest family and friends.
