We met online on May 7th. It was summer when I saw Rob with his charming smile in some pictures, he looked outgoing, adventurous and very into sports and trips —things I happen to love as well. At the time, I was living just five minutes away from him, so just that same day we decided to meet for a casual dinner at the Rahway train station. As a sporty girl, I rode my bike there, as I usually do in Lima, a thing that he thought it was super strange. We talked about everything! our family, recent travels, our favorite places, and that was when I realized he had never set foot in South America. I felt it was super important to tell him about Peru—its beautiful beaches, majestic mountains, and wondrous jungle—and, of course, about politics. He let me talk for hours trying to explain our political context, listening attentively to my broken English, like if he trully cares. Little did I know that he did not care about politics at all but he just did not want our date to end. That day I said to myself, this man is patient —or at least he tried—and he is open minded and we can talk about anything, and I felt I could be my-self in his company. Little by little, I came to discover Rob’s wonderful personality: a true gentleman—cheerful, loving, honest, and kind-hearted. Together, we have built a strong relationship filled with affection, respect, honesty, and mutual support for our dreams. We are one family now... and we are happy to celebrate our union with you.

Nos conocimos un 7 de Mayo. Era verano cuando vi fotos de Rob con una sonrisa encantadora, se veía extrovertido, aventurero y con interés por los deportes y los viajes, cosas que a mí también me encantan. Resultó que, en aquel entonces, yo vivía a solo cinco minutos de él así que decidimos encontrarnos para cenar en la estación de tren de Rahway. Era verano así que fui en bicicleta como normalmente lo hago en un verano limeño, algo que a él le resultó muy de película. Hablamos de nuestros últimos viajes y nuestros lugares favoritos y es cuando me di cuenta que nunca había pisado Sur America. Me pareció importante hablarle de Perú y sus lindas playas, grandes montañas y su maravillosa selva, y por su puesto de política jaja. Me dejó hablar por horas, tratando de explicar nuestro contexto político en mi inglés masticado como si realmente entendiera. Poco sabía que a él la política no le interesaba en absoluto, sino que simplemente no quería que nuestra cita terminara. Aquel día me dije: Este hombre es paciente —o al menos así parecía— y tiene la mente abierta; podemos hablar de cualquier cosa, y sentí que podía ser yo misma en su compañía. Poco a poco fui conociendo la gran personalidad de Rob, un caballero, alegre, cariñoso, sincero y de buen corazón. Juntos hemos ido construyendo una relación llena de cariño, respeto, honestidad y apoyo mutuo a nuestros sueños. Somos una familia ahora... y estamos felices de celebrar la unión con ustedes.
