Luke and I both attended Hastings High School and grew up in Dowling, Michigan, with families attending Pleasantiew Family Church and childhood homes less than two miles apart. Due to living so close, we both rode Bus 6 home from school. We always knew of one another but never fully interacted. Luke and I connected in the early Summer of 2020 and exchanged long text messages for a few months before officially going out. I was attending college at Grand Valley State University and was home for the weekend with summer break around the corner when we decided to meet up in person. Since we both knew of one another and our families, I agreed to meet up at Luke's apartment to have drinks and just get to know one another. Little did I know it would only be a few weeks before Lukes "bachelor pad" turned into OUR first apartment. Luke asked me to be his girlfriend on July 4th, 2020. That summer we became attached at the hip often going out to Curley Cone on Gun Lake for Icecream, playing around with Luke's blow dart gun, and of course redecorating the apartment - making it into our very first "home" together. When it was time to go back up to my college apartment after summer was over, I decided not to go back. All of my college courses moved online, and I leased out my apartment. Luke was never opposed to a high-dollar latte, walking around Target, or packing up everything to go camping. Easy going, and down for anything no matter if it was completely unplanned, Luke was on board. I fell in love with his spirit and spontaneous energy that so much matched my own. Our relationship blossomed after purchasing our home. We tackled painting, ripping up carpet, water damage, and all of the joys of home owning together (with the occasional bickering) Working on our home helped shape our relationship in so many ways. Expensive coffee trips still existed, but were followed by raking up leaves, and our spontaneous energy was fixated on tasks such as repainting all of our cabinets on a Sunday at 7 pm, or mounting our TV on a Tuesday at midnight. Luke asked me to marry him on May 18th, 2024 on Grand Haven beach at sunset and we are so excited to share our special day with you all.
